Unlike other Grand hotels I have stayed at, The Imperial still maintains the original high standards of the Grand Hotel. Prices are very reasonable in low season with great views across the harbour and easy walking distance to the town centre”

“The hotel is very handy from the railway station. The bar area was a delight to relax in, with the chap playing the baby grand. The chairs are comfy but low for eating from (for me 5'4) The restaurant is colourful and the breakfast was good. I was in a room at the back of the hotel and the decor was simple, the room was fine though (i like the old furnitire) and warm enough for me (im a cold person) but maybe a little overpriced. “Great location, excellent service, and really good all round location for a week's exploring ”

“The location was fabulous. Check in could be hugely improved. We were given no information about the bars, restaurants, opening hours of the spa, time of breakfast. We spotted other guest wandering around aimlessly like ourselves. Bar/restaurant work really hard and food was delicious. Drinks priced well for hotel. Bed was uncomfortable as were the pillows. Room was spotless. Spa was amazing, will visit again. ”

“Excellent service from the staff. Perfect location with lift directly down to harbour road. We only stayed two nights and the only negatives would be no room service for new toiletries or teabags between nights. Also if you have a car and have mobility issues the car park is located fairly close but area very hilly. Would however return ”
