5-star view, 4-star beach access, 2-star house. Great views from kitchen and very large living room. Access to very secluded very nice sandy beach, albeit via long steep stairs down a high cliff. Quiet area.
House is old. Bathrooms clean and functional, but mediocre-hotel quality starting to show their age. Stove and fridge also clean and functional but mediocre. Cooktop works but has been terribly abused by someone. Fridge door rusting, painted over.
Living room carpet nice. Hallway/bedroom carpet not -- maybe okay, but looks like old, bad shaggy carpet. Gave my GF the creeps. Weird unexpected 3-inch steps: master→hall and hall→kitchen. Don't notice until you trip. A hazard. We almost fell several times.
Best update done was all new windows with wall of windows in living room showcasing the amazing view.
On entry we were hit with strong musty/mildewy smell. Old houses near the ocean do get this, but it was so strong and remained no matter how much airing out we did. Living room also had just a hint as if someone smoked there long ago - would notice it whenever I re-entered, but then forget about it. Hallway and 2nd bedroom initially smelled like a dog was there, but that subsided.
2-car garage a plus, but somewhat grungy and smells strongly of old, damp wood.
Actually quite a bargain for such a nice view and access to such a nice beach. If that's your primary goal, and you're ok with the funky old beach house vibes and smells you may really like it and rate it higher.
