I recently stayed at Balay ni Manuel Ken Maria and had a mixed experience. The hotel is a family-managed business, and I genuinely appreciated the personal touch and warmth in the service. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which made our stay more comfortable. The breakfast offered five local dishes with a choice of coffee or juice, though it could benefit from a wider selection.
That said, there were a few areas where improvements could be made. The front door lock was a bit loose and difficult to secure, and the door rubbed against the floor. The sink and shower drainage in our suite were slower than expected, which made bathroom use less convenient. We also noticed some signs of timber borer droppings on the bench and floor, which raised concerns about cleanliness. Additionally, the cupboard in the room was empty, and there was a noticeable smell of insect repellent. The sink taps seemed a bit loose, indicating that some maintenance could be needed. The rooms are cleaned every three days, and towels are replaced during these cleaning sessions. The hotel provides two bottles of filtered water for the duration of your stay, regardless of whether it's one or seven nights. Finally, the absence of a television and fridge made the accommodation better suited for short stays rather than longer ones.
While the friendly atmosphere and attentive service were definite highlights, addressing these maintenance and cleanliness concerns would greatly enhance the overall guest
