Unless I had the worst luck to get the worst room, I'm not sure how this motel got the good ratings it has. Granted, I was in room #13.
I checked in late night, but wasn't able to open my room door with the code I was provided. Since the office was closed, I called the support number for the motel. I got a voicemail of someone offering real estate services in another state! So I called again, same voicemail. I left a message describing the problem and about 5 minutes later someone called me and informed the door lock was jammed (they were able to control it remotely), but they were able to direct me on how to resolve that and eventually got in.
However, the inside of the room wasn't great. It's an old building, mostly old furniture and maybe some newer items in the bathroom, but overall you get that "old and worn" feeling.
While the room was pretty clean, the table and chairs were dirty. I cleaned with wet napkins and they all came out very dirty, it looks like they haven't been cleaned in a very long time.
The floor wasn't very clean either: I made the mistake of walking barefoot once and got pretty sticky, so it's obvious it hasn't been mopped in ages.
Finally, because of the issues above, I tried to check out two days early, but found out they only offer a 50% refund for early checkout (that's in the small print, of course).
Overall, not a very pleasant experience, not coming back.
