The first thing you notice about this property is how quiet and peaceful the setting is - at the top of Quaker Mountain, the breezes that cut through the forests that surround the property are all you can really hear - no humming of cars or construction noises in the background. Coming from a more active community, the sounds of silence was music to my ears!
The hosts were very communicative in advance of our arrival and provided us with a helpful digital guide that helped us prep for a region that we'd never visited before. All questions were answered promptly and we felt well prepared for our stay before leaving.
The house itself had everything we needed for the times we were there - lots of classic games in the basement, a fire pit, all the kitchen essentials and then some, some TVs, wifi (which the kids needed as cell service for our AT&T phones was limited - not a bad thing!), a couple of shotskis (!!) and a washing machine.
Location wise, it's located about 20 minutes from downtown Lake Placid and about 6-8 minutes from Whiteface Mountain. There were some nice restaurants in the immediate area which we visited for breakfast, but spent most of our time in Lake Placid when eating out.
The beds were firm and comfortable and each room had its own fan and heating units. We had no problems sleeping at all!
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and could easily see ourselves visiting again soon to experience what the region has to offer in the winter.
