This is a wonderful property for anyone looking for a lovely, peaceful nature get-away. The property, right on the Tennessee River, is gorgeous and we really enjoyed sitting out on the dock watching boats and birds, and also seeing the deer, wild turkeys, horses, and a goat on the 11-mile rural road up to the property.
That road in is a doozy, though. It’s narrow, twisty, and poorly paved for long stretches. Drive slowly and carefully and you’ll be ok but unless you’re used to that kind of thing, you probably won’t want to drive it at night.
There are no ice machines or vending machines at the house, so bring what you need in with you. Coffee, sugar, and powdered creamer is provided. Bring your own milk/creamer if you prefer that. We also found a bag of cookies kindly left for us and some sodas for sale in the mini fridge.
The fresh and warm baked goods in a basket each morning were lovely. We only caught a quick glimpse of our host, but she was really great about answering texts quickly and was truly accommodating.
If you have limited time and plan to spend most of it in downtown Chattanooga, this might not be your best bet, since it takes a good 45 minutes to an hour to get downtown, depending on traffic and weather. But if you’re looking for solitude and nature, this is your destination.
