Rye Chalet
Very nice and clean property with a beautiful view from the deck! The fire pit was lovely in the evening and the host supplied ingredients for making s’mores! The sky was completely clear and we enjoyed star gazing while we enjoyed the fire! The host provided quick responses to questions I asked and provided amazingly detailed information about the property, which was very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend the Rye Chalet to others and hope to stay again soon!!!

The perfect spot!
We stayed here with a group of friends for a mountain biking trip. We have stayed up at Kingdom Trails for the past 9 yrs and were looking to change it up. This spot was perfect! Close to all three trail heads, plenty of space for everyone indoors and out, great parking situation, not too far from town but felt very secluded. We had some questions about where things were stored while we were there and the hosts were incredibly responsive. Truly 5 star experience!

Great retreat!
The Rye Chalet was a great experience for our group. The house is extremely well provisioned and is clean and comfortable. Great views, surrounded by woods and blessed quiet. Easy access to neighboring towns and areas with lots to do, especially if you like hiking and outdoors. Excellent communications and support from the host. Would stay here again.

Unhappy
We received no less than 20 text messages and emails regarding the number of people staying at the property. The listing indicates the property sleeps 12, we had 8 for 3 nights and 3 for one night. This was our third time renting this property and this has never been an issue in the past. But we were told we had more than the "registered" amount of people. We were here for a golf tournament and to have fun. The constant badgering by the owner's representative seriously detracted from our enjoyment. Plus we were charged additional fees because of the number of people over four. We made this reservation in February for an August stay. We have no idea how many people will be coming. The price per night and the advertising is misleading at best. We will not be back.

Just what we needed
It’s a beautiful house on a beautiful piece of land. We had a wonderful stay. I have never rented from a more attentive and caring home owner. If you’re looking for a quite space to enjoy family time this is the place for you.

Amazing stay
My family and I decided to book this wonderful place for my husbands 40th family. As soon as we pulled up it took my breath away. The scenery alone was spectacular. There was so much greenery everywhere we looked. Everything was stocked well and the host was excellent with questions when we asked. I definitely recommend this place and will be returning in the future.

A great place
We spent two weeks here with our family and the house was perfect for our group. Big enough to spread out with great spaces to gather together. The house was very well stocked with high quality linens and towels, plenty of kitchen pots and pans, lots of dishes, mugs, and glasses, and some extra touches like supplies for s’mores, wood for the fire pit, and charging stations for our electronics throughout the house. Land is lovely and location great. You can walk into Wells and you are about 30 mins from great shops and restaurants in Dorset and Manchester. Highly recommend this house.

Incredible views from Rye Chalet
Rye Chalet is an incredible property with sweeping views of the valley below. The chalet is a great combination of 60’s A frame architecture and vibe with modern technology and comforts. Highly recommend staying here for a unique and special way to experience Vermont.

Beautiful chalet!
We stayed at the chalet for a wedding. We had plenty of room for all of our guests to sleep comfortably and enjoy spending time together. Easy directions to find it tucked away. The chalet was clean, spacious, and has a beautiful deck with an amazing view. Beds were comfortable, and kitchen had what we needed to have meals at home. Rita and Kevin kept us up to date with everything. All in all a great getaway. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Vermont Gem
This property has a WOW factor. The view is spectacular and it is very peaceful. If you are looking for a place to retreat and rejuvenate, this is the place for you! We have a multigenerational family and my four kids loved the house. It is very thoughtfully designed and decorated. The induction cooktop was VERY cool. This property has awesome WI-FI so you could remain linked to technology as much as you would like (or not). The area is very quiet and peaceful. The country store in Wells is great. There are a lot of delightful small towns and shops in the area. Also, if you go in the summer, the local produce is incredible. I highly recommend staying here-a great place to interact with nature. Off the beaten path this tucked away home welcomes you in to the charms of the Vermont's Southern Taconic mountains. Clean house, with an incredible view that makes you want to come back again.

Outstanding in the woods!
We had a great time! The chalet was beautiful, and the grounds were gorgeous and well maintained. I recommend dinner at “The Barn” and some awesome hiking was Mt Haystack, and White Rocks. We had a blast and would definately like to visit again. Thank you Merry Lee!

Golf Tourney at Lake Saint Catherine.
Excellent spot close to the golf course. Three different levels to the chalet, each with it's own bath/shower really helped with 5 guys trying to get out the door at the same time. Also our cook (aka The Hoss) thought it was the best kitchen set up he has seen thus far. Poker table was a huge bonus!

Peaceful Quiet Getaway
When we arrived, entry was very simple. We've had to deal with locked gates in the past but this was no more complicated than it needed to be. My daughters felt very secure staying on the first floor. The home doesn't give the appearance of a place that you should be afraid of living in. It wasn't one of those super-pristine, recently-renovated, do-not-touch stays we've worried about. Very clean, but not sterile. Very homey feeling, warm and inviting. It was apparent that the windows were being worked on, but we didn't need to mess with most of them. Second floor bedroom was all that needed a little more air, but the living room on that floor was cool even though we were instructed not to mess with it. Comfortable the entire time. The third floor bedroom was a tad warm when we arrived, but it cooled down nicely and my parents did not complain at all once it did. That master bedroom is very spacious with plenty of storage for long stays. We would have been comfortable staying for much longer, but we only needed four nights of peace. And I was happy to see that my parents could have their own bathroom, my wife and I had ours, and our daughters had their own. We didn't feel cramped at all, and it is the perfect size for six guests. More would probably be happy enough with the extra sleeper sofas, but we never needed them. The view was quite hazy while we were there, as is probably typical this time of year. But my wife got to enjoy a nice long gentle rain one night and another previous gave us a good sleeping atmosphere. The property is quite large, so we didn't explore the entire area. Good trail for short walks in the woods. But I am glad it didn't rain too much, as that driveway (a requirement for such a much needed secluded escape) looks like it could get a tad muddy, much like the secondary road leading up to it. We lucked out and didn't have torrential rain the whole time, so it was just fine. The only complaint has nothing to do with the owner: we could not get Verizon or Mint (T-mobile/Sprint) to work in the area at all. I think I mis-read the details and assumed that there was a 5G modem for our phones, but we were able to use WiFi for emails as needed and the landline for one important phone call. And honestly, I'm glad we DIDN'T have 24 hour cellphone access. No "extended warranty" scams! Overall it was a great visit. We would come back if we needed this much space again. Perfect base to explore the sparse Vermont I've been dreaming!
