The location of the Hawaiian Princess is beautiful and peaceful. The units themselves are shabby--they are in very poor condition--they are not maintained and are in desperate need of a deep clean--or any real cleaning. Appliances were broken or missing, beach equipment (beach chairs and umbrella) were broken and unusable. Paint was missing or chipped everywhere--on the walls and furniture. The door of our unit appeared to have been broken into. The frame was split and it looked like anyone could push the door open even when locked. We spent most of our time in our friend's units and they were not much better.
We were with a group that rented 4 units in total. Our unit was identical to the unit next door, but our unit was $36 more per night than the matching (and adjoining) unit next door. Everyone else in our group paid the lower rate, as well, for their units, including one much larger corner unit.
Lastly, and really the reason that I am writing a bad review for a rental property for the first time in my life, is due to the host of this property. She was condescending (she told me there were no bugs in the unit when my roommate and I had killed dozens of them and I had the bites to prove it). She cut me off, told me to stop talking when I was trying to explain the reason for my call, and she was just incredibly rude overall. I could have overlooked so much about the property if she had been pleasant and understanding. I have worked in the hospitality industry for all of my working life and I would NEVER treat another human being the way she treated us. This is so disappointing because everything (except the host's rudeness) is fixable. It could be an amazing property with the right attitude from the host and more attention to cleanliness and maintenance.
