Good for a Hunting Cabin
Property listed as a “beautiful, spacious, 3-bedroom, 3-bath” house, about 40 minutes from Augusta.
Check in: No door code sent before arrival. Property is in a rural area, and we had no cell service. We drove several miles to get back to cell service and code. Google Maps navigated us to a cemetery. We eventually did find the driveway (just past the cemetery).
When we opened the door to the house, there was a strong, musty smell. The light switches were not by the front door, and we tripped on floor transitions that were raised up about an inch between sections of the house.
There is a lot of large furniture and decorations in the house. This made the house feel cramped and small. A number of the outlets did not work.
The well water had a distinct smell and taste, so we decided to not drink it.
There are only 2 showers. 1 had minimal water pressure which left only 1 for the 5 of us. The toilet in this bathroom required us to reach into the tank in order to flush it.
We discussed packing our bags and finding a different place. We decided to stay and drove to Augusta the next day. The drive took an hour (without traffic).
I reached out to the host about the issues. It’s been 2 weeks, and he has not replied.
The property description says, “Perfect for hunting…” I’m thinking someone looking for a hunting cabin may find this property ideal. Someone looking for a nice place to stay while attending an event in the area may want to consider other options.
