We stayed at Villa Kolacje for 9 nights at the beginning of September. The weather was beautiful. It's a very easy journey from the airport to Split (1hr and 4 euros on the bus) and on to the ferry for Brac (50mins and about 4 euros). We spent the first couple of days walking to nearby Splitzka and Postira and the ancient town of Dol, where we had a fabulous dinner at the Kastil Gospodnetic with a wonderful view to the mainland. Mini house tour and history lesson included! We went twice to Konoba Kopacina in Humac, once for lunch and then again for dinner on our last night.
Taxis are expensive though so we rented a car on recommendation from Boris for the remainder so that we could explore the island ( about £40 a day for a small 4 door). And explore we did! There a couple of 'must see' sights, namely Vidora Gova - the highest point of the Adriatic Islands and an amazing sight towards Hvar, Vis, Korcula and even Italy on a clear day. Also Bol and its famous Zlatni Rat beach, although it's very commercial. Lovrecina is the only sandy beach, but there are much nicer pebbly beaches along the coast, although require beach shoes unless you have feet of steel! We went twice to Pucisca and had the most delicious ice cream.
Skrip itself is the oldest settlement on Brac and in our opinion, the nicest. There is a restaurant, bar and small supermarket within minutes of the villa. There are also a couple of museums - The Brac museum and an Olive Oil museum, both of which are worth a visit. There are also a couple of 'ateliers' selling locally made goods.
Supetar is the nearest large town where the ferry comes in (10 mins by car). There are lots of things to do and much more nightlife. There are also a couple of large supermarkets there, one of which, Boris' father took us to when he very kindly picked us up from the ferry and took us to the villa.
The villa itself is delightful and had everything we needed. We had a barbeque one day which was really easy to use . The indoor cooking facilities are basic but adequate, but the villa is well equipped otherwise. If you spend much time there though, take CDs, DVDs, games etc as there are none there.
If you enjoy cycling, Brac is the place. There are 5 circular cycling trails, from the challenging to the impossible! We watched people struggling uphill many a day! There are electric bikes to rent though.
All in all we had a fabulous time, Boris and his family are very kind and we would recommend Villa Kolacje.
