Newport is in a great location – close to the beach, the Wharf and the Esplanade.
We stayed in a ground floor motel room in January 2025 for one night. It suited our purposes enough that we booked for another night in May 2025. Both times we had the closest room to reception, opposite the lifts, next to the pool. It was clean, comfortable and very spacious. Parking was easy and close to the rear entrance.
Several reviews refer to how noisy these rooms are. This one was noisy, but that didn't bother us as we spend little time in the room and each time was an overnight stay on the way elsewhere. If you want a quiet, relaxing stay and spend time in the room - avoid this one.
During our stay in May we checked in and went out. We came back to get ready for dinner and found the 90cm bathroom mirror had fallen off the wall and shattered on the floor. Reception was closed. When we called the after hours number we were very surprised to be told that no staff were available and were asked to clean it up ourselves. This was extraordinarily poor service, and not in accordance with our other interactions with reception staff. After some to-ing and fro-ing we were told someone was now onsite and would clean up the glass. This bloke was friendly and helpful and got it done efficiently.
We are very unlikely to stay here again based purely on the attitude of the person that answered the after hours call.
