We stayed at this home for a week in June. While it met our needs, it wasn't quite what we were expecting (some ways positive, some not so much).
Pros: The remodeling was done beautifully. We especially enjoyed the new deck (updated pictures of this are needed, not accurate on the listing). Both bathrooms are nicely redone as well. The bedrooms were adequate size and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was a good size and everything worked well. TV was big (only one in cabin) and the fireplace looked nice, though we never used it. Hot tub was clean, but again we didn't use this. It was nice having the game room beneath the house, this is where the washer and drier are located. Roads getting to the home are nice and easy to navigate. The towns of Stanley and Luray are within reasonable driving distance with the basics. Overall the home was nicely decorated and in good shape. All basic amenities were provided and appreciated.
Cons: it is a drive to get to anything. It's nice not being in the middle of a busy area, but it limits your choices for entertainment and food. There is next to no fast food anywhere, but there are several restaurants. The house at first appeared clean, but we had several issues with dishes and cookware being dirty, the fridge was grimy, and I filled a dustpan full of dust, dust bunnies, and dead bugs (at least they were dead) after sweeping up the whole place. The guest bathroom's shower is VERY small and tight, one of my teens refused to use it because she's claustrophobic . There is no central air, but each room has a unit which can be VERY noisy. There were constant mosquitos, which is not atypical for this time of year, but we really couldn't use the yard or explore too much because we kept running into swarms of them. We weren't able to use the game room because it had a very strong smell that made me a bit nauseous. The washer/dryer left our clothes smelling a bit funky, though I REALLY appreciate they were provided. If you have party members that get car sick easily, be sure to drive down the mountain SLOWLY as there are lots of twists and turns.
I highly recommend attending a movie at the theater in Luray, the pink one. It is SO unique and fun. It's an old theater that was remodeled, each room a different theme. I also recommend checking out Luray Caverns and the car museum (free with cavern tickets). Dominico Italian Restaurant is GREAT and they give you a lot of food! Shenandoah NP - meh.
