Grandma and grandpa and grandkids
The first thing that my grandson wanted to see was the pond and we were disappointed it was so far away from the house but the first time Symon saw the pond there were all kinds horse flies and green stuff on the water. So we spent the next day at governor dodge state Park WONDERFUL TIME . The next day we went to House on the Rock Great! Came home and rested Ava and I went back to gov. Dodge and hiked the waterfall trail and the my husband and the boys put bug spray for flies and drove down to the pond to fish much better the pond was clear. We couldn’t get the micro wave to work you should check that could have been us. It’s one of the most beautiful parts of our state and being with our grandchildren it was wonderful weekend

Wonderful weekend
Beautiful home! My wife and I enjoyed birdwatching and fishing on the property, as well as exploring the rest of what Spring Green has to offer. We'd happily stay here again.

Run for the hills and avoid this property host!
My husband and I have rented a combination of 19 rentals in 2020 and 2021 with our young kiddos. We are small business owners, so we are blessed to travel, while working. Of these 19 rentals, we have never left less than a 5-star review, nor have we ever received less than a 5-star rating as guests. This particular property was tarnished by the extreme property host. Upon arrival, Nancy was disrespectful and treated my husband and I as though we were intruders, not paying guests. PLEASE: CAREFULLY read ALL of the "house rules" and every one of the dozen potential fees she will add on, EXTREMELY carefully! I was apprehensive about staying to begin with and also shared this apprehension with my husband, but it was the only rental left available on Labor Day weekend. If there are more rules than amenities, Run! No smoking any where on 278 acres of property; no renters under 35.... extra cleaning fees, extra recycling sorting fees... etc. We were on a 5 day trip to SW WI. Nancy's place was the 2nd we were staying at. My husband put up some deer stands, using his wheeler, at his leased land 100 miles away from Nancy's house. Because this was trailered behind his truck, upon entering her driveway, her first words to him were "ATV'S ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY!!" Not, "hello guests... or welcome... or how was your trip?" We explained to her we had zero intention of using it on her property, but did explain to her we were coming from a different place that we did use it on (4 hours from home), so we had no where to put it, other than on the trailer in the driveway. She then left. An hour later, after completely unpacking, and my kids had their "rooms" picked out, I received 3 repeat calls from VRBO. Please note that Nancy had my cell phone number, but called them first, instead. They had Nancy on the phone. She wanted us gone and NO refund. Why? Because my husband asked, "ATV's aren't even allowed trailered on the driveway?" and she didn't "like his tone". I was livid. My toddler and 8 year old had just got out of the vehicle from a 4 hour drive... we were trying to make dinner plans, and I ended up on the phone with VRBO customer care for 2 hours!! Not exactly the vacation I envisioned! Nancy proceeded to say to the VRBO customer care agent, "what if they trash the place now?" Seriously?? Wow. Please heed my warning and run from this property if you are looking for a get away. We ended our "vacation" a day early, in total disgust.

Great escape from concrete jungle.
Wonderful get away property. The surrounding land is surreal. The house has everything one would need and more. It's clean, spacious and calming. Our group of Dads spend a wonderful weekend there.

Quiet and relaxing
Our family of four had a relaxing vacation. Beautiful views from the many windowed home. We saw deer, birds and butterflies. Spent a few days relaxing. Tubing in Wisconsin river, a day at House on the Rock, golfing, and shopping in Spring Green.

Beautiful property for a friends reunion
We rented the property for a weekend reunion for eight people (although we ended up with only six). The house was clean and spacious with decor that complemented its prairie setting. There were only two real beds and one sofa sleeper so we needed to bring several inflatable beds. The house did have two twin foam mattresses available, but they didn't have a lot of support so we used our own inflatable beds that we brought. The property owner made sure to contact us ahead of time to describe the sleeping situation more completely. The greater property was the biggest pleasure with acres of meadow lush with milkweed for butterflies and birds and a big patio for relaxing and enjoying it all. It was very close to Taliesen, American Players Theater, House on the Rock and Governor Dodge State Park.

Nice house to enjoy nature
The house is big, with different areas to be. Surrounded by wildlife. The kitchen and the dining room are amazing. You have space outside to enjoy. The house is close to a state park and Wisconsin River.

Relaxing Getaway
We enjoyed a long weekend relaxing here under the stars. The property is well-cared for, with great star-gazing, lots of wildlife sightings, and great bird-watching. Close to American Players Theater and Spring Green, this property is close enough to town for a quick run for necessities, but private enough to truly relax. Check-in and check-out are easy and the property was very clean. We're already checking our calendars for when we can return.

A Special Refuge
I came back for the third time to this property and plan to return again. The land is filled with life and color, and I can't think of a better place to rejuvenate at. In 3 days, we saw a couple dozen bird species, a groundhog, white-tailed deer, rabbits, and an owl. Nancy is responsive and helpful as always, and the house is clean and comfortable.

Relaxing vacation spot
Lovely, tranquil spot perfect for relaxing and spending time with the family. Watching and listening to the birds while enjoying meals on the deck overlooking the fields was so peaceful. And yet you are only a few miles from Taliesin, Mineral Point, and other great places to visit. House was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Owner left clear and detailed instructions.

Second Time Back, and Still Great!
After coming here in the summer with friends and falling in love with the property, I came back with my family in the late fall. Even as the prairie turned gold, the land was still beautiful for walking through. For those coming from large cities, the stars will not disappoint. The host was again very communicative and accommodating and made sure we were in the loop about everything. This place is a perfect retreat and I look forward to future stays. I accidentally almost forgot to write my review but wanted to be sure to give the kudos this place deserves!

Wisconsin family getaway
This was the perfect spot for a much needed family get away. Quiet, serene and beautiful! Lots of wildlife! Would definitely recommend Spring Green Cottage and would love to visit again sometime!

Great getaway!
We loved Spring Green Cottage and really enjoyed hiking on the property, relaxing on the deck overlooking the prairie, cooking in the clean modern kitchen, and stargazing on clear nights. It's peaceful and beautiful here - we want to visit again!

Wow! This is a beautiful place to stay
This property is not far from the Wisconsin River and Spring Green as well as Governor Dodge State Park. The weather was wonderful! We hiked at Gov Dodge and when back at the house, we meandered around the prairie that is being restored. The trees were turning color and just a wonderful, relaxing, environment. There is no traffic noise, airplane noise - just the view and the stars.

Incredible Getaway / Amazing Property
The property is extraordinary! If you're looking to get away, this is the place to do it. Deer in the yard greeted us every day and the pond provided our teenagers with hours of fishing fun. The cabin is clean and well kept with everything you need.

So beautiful and peaceful!
The property is amazing. If you like nature and a place to relax, this is it. Great bird watching. A nice walk to the pond. A beautiful drive to the winery. We would definitely go back. Nancy was available for anything that we needed.

Great country retreat
What a great spot for a quiet getaway weekend, especially during Covid 19. Everything was as advertised. A clean comfortable house surrounded by beautiful Wisconsin farmland and woods. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need, there is a nice fire pit (which we ran out of time to use) and a cute little gazebo in which to enjoy your morning coffee. The path through the woods to the little hidden pond is a nice walk and I’m sure kids would love it. We did quite a bit of biking and if you’re into cycling there are many great quiet country roads to explore (bring your hill climbing muscles). Overall, the place was extremely relaxing and I found myself wishing we had booked for a week instead of a weekend. If you’re looking for a spot in southwest Wisconsin, this is definitely worth a look.

Weekend Stay
Property was in a remote secluded spot with beautiful views. Makes sure you read the posting carefully; All adults must be over 35, No smoking on entire property inside and out, and there are cameras monitoring the fire pit and screened in front porch. Pond was to overgrown with algae to do any fishing this time but, everything else about the property was wonderful.
