Wasn’t really clean , !
I own a cleaning company and I can tell that those floors haven’t been mopped in a good while! The water in the hot tub was dirty as well , And that kitchen have just the basics. I have rented cabins in different paces of Tennessee and North Carolina in the past 8 years but this one was the only one I was disappointed with. Definitely they can do better

Pros and Cons
We were thrilled to find this cabin as we have stayed at this resort before. There were pros and cons. Pros: Easy communication with Beth. She answered questions and got back to me quickly. She was nice to speak to. The cabin had cable TV and a few games and movies to keep us busy on the rainy and cold days. We loved the hot tub and the view was beautiful. We also ate most meals there, so we appreciated the kitchen utensils. Beth allowed the grocery delivery to come before we checked in. Cons: The bed linen was dirty. There were some light brown stains on the sheets as well as what looked like a blood stain. We couldn’t find any spare sheets, so we had to pull the top sheet up over the stained/dirty fitted sheet. The comforters on the beds also had stains on them. One of them was covered in dog hair. There was one spare comforter that was not king size we had to use as well as one small blanket that also had dog hair on it. The pillows were all very flat or lumpy. There were extra pillows, but no pillow cases to put on them. They need all new bedding. I understand you cannot wash comforters between guests, but at least have a clean backup as well as extra clean sheets. The door to the balcony only latched when it was locked, so we’d be in the hot tub and the door would just fly open and let cold air in. There was also what looked like blood on the window of the balcony door. Also noticed cobwebs in cabin. Overall the housekeeping could be better.

We had an awesome time. Cabin was outdated and their cleanliness was clean but not deep clean due to cob webs everywhere. The location was far off the main drag but the scenery was awesome. Would consider it again.

Property lay out was great. Not the cleanest, if fact we had to come in and reclean. Master toilet seat broken and all trash swept under cabinet base, recliner stuck out it was broken, coffee pot broke, windows extremely dirty, outside I get but full of hand prints and face prints. If water on downstairs would not work upstairs. Overall it was nice.

Gorgeous Views.. but cabin needs attention
Just leaving facts: - check in was smooth.. communication was terrific (at first) - This place is remote! Which we loved.. some may not. Town close by is super cute with shops and a Dollar General if you need some basic supplies. - We arrived to a broken recliner. I messaged the owner to let them know and they did quickly respond that a previous guest broke the chair and a new one had been ordered. Just beware.. if you need a recliner (that was one of the top things on our list for my husbands bad back). We weren’t told this prior to our stay. 😞 - the electric fireplace is just a light. Not a flame light.. not a heater.. just a light. Unlike any electric fireplace I’ve ever seen. I wasn’t expecting to burn wood but I was expecting an electric fireplace as advertised and it isn’t.😞 - this place allows pets. Which I fully support and think is wonderful however, there was a slight urine odor. I did alert the owner of this as well, they told me about the Dollar General in town to get the Febrese I asked if they had any of in the cabin. - the beds were very comfortable! However.. when we prepared to go to bed, the comforter was filthy. I included this in my message to the owners too.. this must have been the straw that broke the camels back.. because communication stopped after this😬😬) the comforter downstairs was clean-ish so we just exchanged it out (but it didn’t smell good) Overall the cabin was OK. Just expect rustic and come prepared to clean a little.

The cabin was roomy but very outdated & not good up keep. Furniture broke and broken down, burner broke on stovetop, door knobs loose & broken, no chlorine in the hot tub, overall not very clean. We were hoping the Christmas tree and decorations were up but they weren’t. Not a huge deal that was more just disappointing. Not much kitchen utensils & things to cook with. The property place itself seemed to be nice and kept up with but the actual cabin not so much. Very disappointed as we are making this a yearly Thanksgiving tradition & was hoping to be able to stay at the same location yearly & this will definitely not be it.

Well I enjoyed our stay very much. Cabin was beautiful the view was top notch. I have dogs and they were able to accommodate my 3 littles. I read reviews and I do agree cleaning could have been better. We cleaned the main level windows ourselves. The view was just too beautiful not to. We didn’t clean the lower level windows because we could just open the doors to view. Overall everything else was good. I’m giving a 4 because I was not as worried about perfect cleanliness because I was bringing my dogs. We loved our vacation. Thank you!!

Perfect for us!
Our first impression walking in to the house was absolute joy. The property was so clean and you can’t beat the view. The hosts were easy to contact and always responded to our questions quickly. We spent our down time playing pool and fuse ball and just spending time together. Highly recommend!!!

Describing this as "luxurious", "elegant", "fully-equipped", "gourmet kitchen" al highly inaccurate. Pro: Great jumping-off point for Smokies Beautiful views from back of cabin Con: "Resort" is 2 rows of mostly identical cabins - not attractive. Mountain Romance has been neglected. Musty, dirty smell. After opening the windows, musty odor improved (not many windows open: not great if you want mtn air). Windows&blinds&behind furniture all very dusty. AC output vent in the kitchen black mold∫ake vents filthy. Rugs, carpet&window coverings stained&dirty; unmissable iron burn stain downstairs carpet. Thoroughly beaten-up cabinets, drawers&walls. Underequipped kitchen. Furnishings worn and ripped. We have owned a pool&hot tub; this hot tub did not appear to have been well maintained: water smelled moldy but also clearly had such a high level of chemicals that we were unwilling to go in it. Main floor bathroom toilet&bottom floor shower appeared to have urine, rust, hair around base. Would have left that night except for lateness of the hour; instead we left the next morning, foregoing the 2nd night we had paid for. We did contact owner on arrival to ask about any hot tub chemicals & also whether any coffee was stored there (tons of filters; three bags of decaf, no other coffee); responded quickly that neither was available. Contacted owner when we left and provided all the above feedback as well as pics. Owner going today; hopefully will address all of this.

Loved our Stay at Mountain Romance
The windows overlooking the view of the valley below had been replaced since our last stay which was marvelous. This cabin has a wonderful view of the valley behind the cabin and the mountain ridges in the background. Sitting on the deck at 5:00 AM and watching the mountain ridges glow as they transition from the sunrise is my happy place.

Birthday Celebration
As we walked in the door my 73yr old mom tripped and fell. She hit her head pretty hard. After a trip to the ER and everything settled down we had a great time. The next day she was so sore, that's when we got in the hot tub. It was perfect. She was happy to be in the mountains celebrating with her family. The cabin was so nice & clean. It had everything we needed: a pool table, a nice kitchen stocked with cooking utensils, a beautiful veiw, hot tub, lots of parking and I could take my dog. We live about 45 min away but it was fun to get away for the weekend. I would recommend.

Great place at The Preserve!
I’ve stayed at a few different Preserve Resort properties over the last 10 years and Mountain Romance was great. We truly enjoyed our time. My daughters loved the “tri-level” setup of the cabin as they each had their own bedroom, while me, their father, slept on the couch! I did it for them and their overall experience and I highly recommend if this property is available for your next stay at The Preserve.

Weekend at Mountain Romance
Great location and home. Starting to show signs of wear (furniture and curtains). Upstairs shower/tub wouldn't drain. Electric fireplace doesn't work (neither heats or looks like flame). Electric can opener not working. Light under microwave not working. Light in hot tub not working. Just lots of little items that need attention. Beds have tempurpedic toppers, but are quite firm and uncomfortable. Cleaning was marginal with hand prints all over the beautiful living room windows.

Best view I’ve had in a cabin
From almost every room you have an incredible view. A good amount of amenities and it was pretty simple to get to. I would definitely recommend this to a friend and would come back!

Excellent Mountain View
This cabin and the owners were excellent. The view is bar none and the owners were pleasant and had very good communication. I would highly recommend.
