Deep disappointment, communication breakdown
I have already communicated with VRBO customer service that I was unable to make use of the stay due to malfunctioning seurity system at the property after much frustration in checking in by cell phone via TravelBridge. My refund request is "under review" at Travelbridge where they say it is subject to their policy. VRBO suggested that I contact the "property manager," a Joshua, and gave me a number; when I called, that number led to TravelBridge and other employees who refused to connect me with Joshua and said they were on top of the request. The root of the situation was an entry keypad that was invisible unless a button was pushed (that had no labeling) and then malfunctioned, giving a recording "operation failed" and on the third attempt lighting up red. After I had canceled and was 10 minutes up the road, TravelBridge called having found a key, but at that point my confidence was shot and I was not about to stay in a building with a faulty security system. I communicated this clearly. TravelBridge's employee sent a message saying "Travel plans change but refunds are up to us" -- completely distorting the situation. I was so looking forward to this stay and cooperated with the cumbersome requirments to photograph security documents from the parking lot, talk with TravelBridge while texting photos which is not simple on my phone, etc. Having a local representative to deal with in person would have surelly cut through this situation and made the stay possible.
