Not worth the price you pay for it

We stayed at this place for over a week. The best part to this place was Fatima who lived on the property. She was always there to help. The owner was very responsive when we first inquired about the property.Things that went wrong:1. Dryer did not work2. Lights flickered in all rooms including the fridge3. Landscape was not well maintained. Ants crawling everywhere which made it hard to walk on the grass. There was dog poop in certain areas of the backyard and the area smelled on pee.4. Pool area had stone breaking off- which cut my foot. Slide was not well managed.5. House was not stocked with necessities, especially for people renting the place for more than 3 days.My recommendation to owner is to do a bit of cleanup of the property and pool area. Check on all the appliances in the house. We could not even use the oven.None the less, location was great.

Great place to refresh

What a great place to wind down and enjoy the simplicities of life. Spacious, clean and peaceful spot away from tourist traps. Our family enjoyed this 3rd part of our trip best after Manuel Antonio and La Fortuna. We also really appreciate accommodating our early checkin and late checkout because that is an exception not always able to grant.

Fatima made this home great!

If you are looking for a safe home in this area 2 min walking to beach you have found it. It is VERY close to a family friendly beach. The backyard is a dream for kiddos! Fatima is ON TOP of everything and anything you need, questions you have, safety info and more. It was a joy to be hosted by her and her son Jr. was so much fun!

Very safe, quiet, nice place for a family

This place has all you need to enjoy your vacation along the southern coast of Costa Rica. Very clean inside, nice bathrooms, good AC, great kitchen and swimming in the pool each morning is a perfect way to start your day. The beach is a short walk from the house. A grocery store and restaurant is also a short walk. One morning we were treated to about a dozen monkeys jumping through the trees. It’s also a short drive to Quepos, Dominical to surf, and Uvita to see waterfalls or go zip lining. We highly recommend this lovely home.

Great Stay

A great house and pool. A short walk to the beach and a local store. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Fatima (the on-site caretaker) was very helpful, making our stay a very pleasant experience.

Wonderfully relaxing Stay

We had an AMAZING week at Ballena y Cuervo! We have stayed in Dominical several times, but this trip was all about relaxing and not scheduling out activities and this house helped us embrace that. We enjoyed the quietness of Matapalo while still being a short drive to destinations and our favorite restaurants. We walked to the beach with our coffee in the mornings and had the beach to ourselves, then came back to join the locals for sunsets with a glass of wine. The kids loved the pool and water slide so much that it was hard to get them to leave the house. We ate at A Kachete several times, the kids were obsessed with the chocolate shakes and it was in walking distance from the house or a quick walk up from the beach. Just wish they had breakfast as well. And we were able to get all our groceries and snacks at the supermini next door to the restaurant. We didn't do any cooking at the house but there did seem to be ample cooking supplies, other than one salt shaker there were no condiments/seasonings etc though and not really a space for storing dry food. The house and pool were very clean and the property beautiful. Fatima the caretaker was accessible before our trip to answer any questions and to recommend activities and help book them if interested. We didn't book anything but we had a blast on the rope swing at the Dominicalito waterfall and jumping off the platform at the Uvita waterfall, our teenager even slid down the waterfall but the rest of us chickened out. We also rented boogie boards for a few days and snorkel gear one day to try the whale's tail at low tide, pretty murky but lots of fish. Would definitely recommend this house and can't wait to return!
