“Considering what a beautiful property and otherwise perfect experience at the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa, a new chef would be a deal changer! The cod fish we ordered was still cold inside and the food overall was terrible. And despite the breathtaking property, the hall leading to Victoria pool and bathroom were unkept and dirty. We will be back though!!!!

“We had a wonderful time at the Adelphi. The staff was warm and welcoming. We were upgraded to a beautiful room, probably one of the nicest hotel rooms we have stayed in: comfortable beds, electronic shades and drapery, and a huge, beautiful bathroom. We requested extra bedding for the pull-out sofa, and the sheets were brought to us warmed! Also there are several cool common spaces including a game room and a "library" with a beautiful porch. We would 100% stay here again.”

Upon arrival my girlfriend and I were surprised to find the building facade to be different than what was posted online, a room that had dirt on its floors/tiles, paint chips in the shower, and a door that doesn’t quite fit its frame. Additionally, Expedia lists the hotel as having a rooftop garden and daily housekeeping. However, the hotel itself informed us that housekeeping is only provided every other day, contradicting the listing.
Front Desk & Lack of Local Information
Upon arrival, the front desk staff was standoffish and did not provide any information about local events. We later discovered from locals that there was a winter festival and a dance festival happening nearby—something that should have been mentioned to guests.
False Advertising of Amenities
The listing also advertised an indoor pool and outdoor fire pits, neither of which were usable. The pool had been permanently filled in with cement, with plans to turn the space into an arcade. The fire pits and garden patio area were completely neglected, buried under a foot of snow, making it nearly impossible to walk around."
