My family used to come to Casey Key for a week every year when the kids were young. They are now is their 20's and this was a chance to come back and re-live a childhood memory on the Gulf of Mexico. We spent two terrific weeks together, resulting in one of the best trips ever. The house itself was beautiful. It was clean, spacious, well furnished, with great bedrooms - each with a very comfortable bed and its own private bathroom. The back patio and pool provided us the perfect place to enjoy all parts of the day - from tranquil mornings, to afternoon sun, and of course, perfect daily sunsets -no two being the same. The pool was a great addition, very clean and well kept. It seemed there was always someone in the pool cooling off or talking over an afternoon cocktail. But the back yard is also a great plus. Extremely well maintained landscape and sizable yard was perfect for croquet. There wasn't a set there, but as soon as we arrived, we saw the potential and ordered a set off Amazon for next day delivery. It became a fun daily competition for everyone.
The location of the property is not lost on me either. Once you cross the bridge onto the island, the home is only a few houses down the road. Super accessible to everything. You can literally walk to the tiki bar, boat rental area, or shopping center at the end of the road if you want some exercise, but even driving the mile provides access to the grocery (Publix), CVS, ACE hardware, and the gas station without having to go on the major road (Tamiami Trail). Germaine and her husband were also wonderful. They were available each time we called them (clarifying trash day, starting the stove top, and using the remote control - all things we should have figured out ourselves without calling) but they were always kind and very helpful. The only issue at all is beyond anyone's control - but the beach that once existed on that part of the island is gone - and one really cant walk the beach without either walking a bit down the road or wading in water nearly waist deep until you get to where the beach starts. This home does have a sandy beach to enjoy, you just cant walk the beach anymore. That said, we never left the house - it boasts the best view anywhere - in fact, there isn't a restaurant or bar anywhere with a better Gulf view or sunset experience. It was an all-around beautiful vacation and a house that I highly recommend!
