Photos of house on VRBO misrepresented condition of house when we arrived. The house had excessively stained carpets in bedrooms, stained bed linens, and unclean bathrooms. We did not feel safe in the house and, after making the Owner aware, we found accommodations elsewhere.
The pictures on VRBO show a new/ pristine house - not a house with (explanation provided by Owner after our arrival) - "wear and tear from continuous hosting". Had we been made aware of the condition, we would not have rented the house.
Carpets had excessive staining around beds. The listing did not state, as communicated to us by Owner after our arrival - "Yes, we have tried to clean and because they are white carpets the stains come right back almost immediately. We are looking to replace after the summer rental season."
Bathrooms/toilets were soiled. Master bedroom bed linens were soiled/stained.
Considering current pandemic conditions in the US, bathrooms and sleeping areas must be clean.
We were so disappointed by the condition of the home when we arrived, we left and went to a hotel at an additional expense to our family. Our entire trip was ruined by this rental experience. The Owner refuses to refund rental fees, only offering a refund of a portion of the cleaning fees.
VRBO's violations team is investigating. We are hopeful that VRBO will honor their SAFE Guarantee.
