9 members of our family (7 adults, 1 teen and 1 infant) met in San Antonio for a family wedding. The venue was northeast of town at Oak Valley Vineyard so we wanted a house convenient to both the wedding and to the perks and sights of the city. San Antonio is booming, with new construction everywhere. The house is in a gated community which is so new that the GPS in our Prius could not find it, but Google maps on my phone had no problem.
So why "A Tale of Two Houses"?
On a MACRO level the house itself was awesome: Solid new construction. Clean. Spacious. Safe, beautifully-landscaped neighborhood. Reliable WiFi. Big smart TV. Top-notch climate control. Washer and dryer. Nice gas range.
On a MICRO level a number of expected amenities were missing: No hair dryer. No functioning ice maker (and the fridge seemed to be struggling to get cold enough). No iron or ironing board. No corkscrew. No large serving dishes (I left some dollar store platters). No toaster. There is a Keurig Duo (yay!) but the carafe side wasn't usable. Odd lack of side tables (I pulled a chair into the master BR to serve as a bedside table). ONE outside chair. "Game Room" consists of a Monopoly game, checkers, and a Foosball table WITH NO BALL. Nice office space, but we had to buy a power strip to reach the outlet behind the desk. Small oversights, many of which were cited in previous reviews.
Wonderful house! Great stay! No big problems. The owner needs to read reviews and fill a few hospitality gaps.
