What we LOVED: Queenstown is fantastic!; The views from the chalet are to die for; The porch off the front was wonderful to sit and have breakfast/lunch/glass of wine/dinner; The washer and dryer were great; The living/dining room was a good size and comfortable; It was close to town and an easy walk down (rough coming back up;)
What was OK: The place is dated (alright, we knew that coming in from other reviews but had to emphasize it) with old scratched kitchen counter, old soft sofa, tired rugs; The towels are limited and very thin; The sheets were too small for the bed; The kitchen was ok with limited dishes and utensils; The driveway (again we knew from other reviews and dealt with it) was STEEP – but after you have been in NZ for a while you get used to these steep hills; The bedrooms and bathroom was on the second level – not an issue for us, but I don’t believe it was noted in the description.
What we HATED: The shower! – it was like standing in a bowl as the bottom was not flat. They provided a rubber mat that helped. It was also hard to get in/out since it was so high (this is common in Europe but still nasty); The hot water – there is a sign that says to limit the use for hot water or you will run out and it takes hours for the tank to refill (suggestion to owner – get a new low flow shower head with a handle OR get a tankless water heater); The beds are really old, saggy and lumpy – bad for my back
