I'll state first and foremost I have a difficult time staying places in general. If something isn't super clean, it messes with me mentally and I become uncomfortable and stressed. I acknowledge that is a "me" thing. When my husband and I arrived at this VRBO, I had high hopes it would be clean and a convenient stay because of its location & being a fairly new listing. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The area rug in the main area had hair, crumbs and dirt on it. The tiled floor also looked unswept (which I ended up finding a broom in the shared laundry space to clean myself, no big deal). The comforter had the type of stain on it that made me question whether or not its been washed recently. But all of these things are fixable. I reached out to the owner of the property at 10pm when we got there - not expecting any response till the morning. Surprisingly, they responded pretty quickly, which was great! But the response wasn't the type you'd hope for. I brought up the concerns and offered solutions to fix on my own, asking for a vacuum that I could use the next day, inquiring about whether the comforter would fit in the washer/dryer, and how to use the air conditioner that didn't seem to be working. The response came across as defensive and unhelpful, as they shared that the guests that had just left had a great experience. It can be difficult to gauge anyone's tone via text, so maybe it was misread.
But we decided to pack up night and leave, staying with family instead.
