Front Desk, Very Unprofessional, Illegally Charge Pet Fee For ESA
The condo itself was impeccably clean; I have no complaints about the accommodation. However, my experience with the condo's staff was quite disappointing. I want to emphasize that I'm not one to make baseless complaints.
The staff's behavior was unprofessional. Upon arrival, I presented documentation for my certified Emotional Support Animal (ESA), as required by Florida law, which stipulates that no pet fee should be charged for an ESA when accompanied by appropriate medical documentation—a condition I fulfilled. Despite this, I was firmly told to pay the pet fee or face eviction by security.
Given our situation—we were fleeing a hurricane, I had already paid for our stay, my son was in recovery from back surgery, and with no other vacancies in the area—I felt compelled to pay the unjust fee. This fee was imposed directly by the property management.
I feel it's important to alert potential visitors considering a stay at any condo at Treasure Island, that they might encounter similar unprofessional and coercive treatment from the staff. This experience has certainly left me wary of returning or recommending the location to others needing accommodation for their ESAs.
