The house was good, with a decent location in a quiet neighborhood. We all had a comfortable stay and were satisfied overall.
There were a few issues with the house that would be easily remedied:
- There was no soap or shampoo in the bathrooms. Just something basic would have been nice.
- Two of the four burners in the stove didn’t work. It was an old oven/stove, so it may just need to be replaced.
- There was no welcome book in the house. Other properties I’ve stayed in have a home guide binder, with descriptions of things around the house (think Wi-Fi password, etc), and a local guide (good beaches, restaurants, grocery stores, etc).
- The kitchen amenities were quite old. It could use new pots and pans.
The rest of the house was fine. Very quiet neighborhood close to the water. Orleans is a cute little Cape town, centrally located within east driving distance of the outer cape and Hyannis.
Another note, and not all specific to this house: taxes and fees are very high. They doubled the price of our stay. There were four separate taxes, an administrative fee, a service fee, a cleaning fee, and a mysterious “additional charge”. I understand this is the Cape in the prime season, but the fees seemed excessive.
