The property was clean, the bedrooms were adequate, the kitchen/dining had lots of space, and the outdoor areas are beautiful and remote - perfect for relaxing away from bright lights and city noise.
The kitchen "basics" in the listing are very lacking. There was very very little in the way of kitchen pans, utensils, and tools. Some of the things I consider basic that were not present were measuring spoons and cups, rubber spatulas, can opener, and baking pans. Basically, you get plates, silverware, cups, 4 different sizes of pots, and a few wooden spoons. There was one oven mitt and no other hot pads at all. The other minor inconvenience was no curtains on the windows. The stained glass is beautiful during the day, but there's little privacy and no light filtering at night or early morning. The sun was right in my eyes first thing each morning before I was ready to get up and I had to put up a temporary curtain while we were there in order to get to sleep. One huge safety concern for us is that there are no locks on the windows, either. I know this is an old building and it's beautiful and unique, but safety is pretty important, too. Our children enjoyed the horses that live next door and we used the fire pit area, as well.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but it didn't feel super homey without the kitchen essentials, curtains for privacy, and window locks for safety. Also, the central A/C was broken during our stay, so they left box fans to move air from the window unit.
