Fall Getaway
My wife and I loved everything about this house. It is tucked away the British Cemetery and backs up to a canal running behind the property. The house was very clean and had everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay. It is very private but within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We are already planning our next visit.

Great view off back deck
Large lot with cemeteries in the front yard, quick walk to town center and area restaurants. Saw several herons fly by from the back deck. Surprisingly peaceful so close to town. Had a great time.

Excellent place to enjoy difficult weather
this was our second stay at this house, and everything was very well prepared and handled. Although a tropical storm was passing by, this house was comfortable and secure to stay in. The host was very responsive and helpful in dealing with concerns about weather impacts, and we ended up even extending our stay with her prompt and locals-knowledge help. This is an amazing house with a very unusual amount of space and privacy. We birded, watched the sky, traveled to the beach, and really enjoyed vacation life on this island. Thank you so much!

Nice retreat from the heat
Mom and I enjoyed our quiet stay at the Canal House. We appreciated the comfortable beds, the cleanliness of the house, and all the basic supplies provided. The AC was welcome for the hot temps and humidity of the week. It was a convenient spot for adventures on the sound and around town.

Easy and Enjoyable
We had a great time at this venue. Did a lot of cooking and there was everything I heeded. Host communicated well and even fixed a small problem immediately. I enjoyed the room segmentation - lots of unique spaces. Very quiet at night.

Quiet, clean and great location!
We had a great stay at the Canal House. It was very clean, had everything we needed and is in a perfect location for golf carting or biking to shopping, restaurants and the coffee shop. This was our first trip to Ocracoke, but it won’t be our last!

Canal house
We stayed at the canal house. Most of the time spent was at the beach, but the time that we were at the house was really nice. It was very clean and I loved the owners sense of style. The house sits right next to a canal and it was nice to drink my coffee and look out on the water. It’s a lovely quaint little place.

My family stayed in Canal House for a family birthday trip. The house is very comfortable with plenty of space for family dinners and hang outs. Hope to return again to this lovely house.

Can’t wait to go back
We enjoyed every minute we stayed at the canal house. Beautiful,clean, and relaxing. Also was very close to everything ocracoke offers. We had a tropocal storm and Debbie made sure we knew where to park and what to do to keep our family safe. We will defantly be back. Can’t wait!!

A beautiful cottage
We had a wonderful stay. Everything was as advertised. (Even better than advertised). It was within walking distance of the whole village. We would definitely stay here again. The beds were comfortable. It was very spacious. We loved it!

Best location
A little (well not really little) hideaway back in a quiet residential are next to the British Cemetery. Lots of sitting spaces, well stocked kitchen and nice decks. No you don't need coffee filters. Myself and others have bought them and left them. Very well located within walking distance of several restaurants, the light house, Zillies for wine and beer. It's not a problem but the remote controlled lights sometimes respond to the buttons and sometimes not depending on their mood. Overall a wonderful spot. Would definitely rent again.

Best Hidden Treasure On The Island
This was our second time staying at Canal House & it was even better than the first! It is located on the quiet, canal/sound side with a large yard and much privacy. We enjoyed kayaking the canals behind the house this year, through the marshes and all the way out to the sound. It is amazing at sunset. The house is very roomy with two living rooms, three bed rooms, a sunroom & two baths…plus the outdoor shower which is a godsend after the beach. If you are looking to relax and unwind, Canal House is your place. Debbie is an amazing host with history of the property and all the information you will need for great dining and any necessities. She’s not an email away…her cell number is on the refrigerator and she responds immediately. I use VRBO frequently for business and vacations. It is RARE to find a home this wonderful, accurately advertised and an owner so thoughtful and accommodating. We will definitely return.

Plenty of space, well-stocked kitchen, and walking distance to town. Canal House worked well for 2 couples. Sadly, it was too chilly for us to enjoy the decks and yard, but maybe next time!

Ideal property nature and privacy
This "Old' Ocracoke style home was amazing. It was even better than the pictures in the listing. Very spacious house. Huge yard. Very private and quiet. We really loved the back yard and the deck over the canal. We enjoyed all the wildlife in the marsh and we were in the back yard every second we could for the whole trip. Sunrise was amazing. The night sky and stars were even better. I've been to Ocracoke many times over many years. This is the perfect place to stay for me and my family. We will be back!!
