The cabin is terrific for 2 or 4. Nice layout, clean, and modern design touches. Two drawbacks indoors: first, the stench of the water is almost unbearable and permeates the cabin whenever it is turned on. We have spent 40 years in lake cabins across Wisconsin and have come to expect the water to have an egg-like smell. We’ve never encountered anything like this. Washing or showering in the water leaves the smell on your skin.
Second, the furniture in the main room—two chairs and a futon—while modern and fashionable, is almost unusable, cramped and hard. We were able to spend very little time there as a result.
Outdoors, the grounds couldn’t be more inviting—right on the water, meticulously maintained, a jewel of a piece of property. Unfortunately, it is tainted by the wall of rocks along the shore that blocks the view of the lake almost completely from the cabin, especially the upper-level kitchen. Sitting in the chairs around the firepit, the water is completely blocked from view by the rocks, a tragic shame.
The owners obviously have put a lot of love and effort into the property. If they can do something about the water, replace the living room furniture with pieces more comfy and cozy, and reduce the height of the rock wall by 2/3, this little cabin could be a slice of heaven on Earth.
