The whole property was very old, broken and busted up. most applicants were broken, electrical issues, all the screens were ripped and broken. Windows wouldn't open, smelled of mold. Broken floor boards. deck was a major issues, chairs broken, it's comical for the price great location and could be great if updating was done.

The guests were very impressed with the design of the house. They said renovations were made that were consistent with the boat house design.

Great location but house is in pretty bad shape

The location is wonderful and the house is overall cute. Unfortunately the house is also in pretty bad shape and in real need of renovation. The sliding door did not have a latch (it was replaced with a bolted screw). It was open when we came and not lockable from the inside. A lovely lady from the rental company came by explaining that normally there was a wooden block to block the door - but that was nowhere to be found. So the door could not be locked! Floors are very creaky, scratched up, and everything seems pretty worn out. The place was not very clean. Some comforters had stains, the couch was sandy, and when we moved one of the beds, dirt from what seemed like a decade appeared (socks, shoes, dust, etc). A slated bed frame was parked (probably forgotten) right next to the door, old fruit was in the fridge, soap and shampoo packs left on the outdoor table, etc. Also be aware that the place is managed by a rental company. They all seemed lovely and well intentioned - but communication was sometimes slow. We had to follow up a few times, at one point we got sent texts meant for another rental, or the rental agent answered questions that had been previously answered, instead of the ones we had just sent, etc. Overall, especially for the price you pay, we cannot recommend.

A home that lives up to its pictures!

It was as cute as it looked on-line and gave us a great space for hanging out and enjoying each other's company. That said, I would recommend that you rent this with loved ones as privacy is limited because of the indoor design. With no insulation or dry wall every noise is heard throughout the house! Other nice surprises: new AC units (very quiet), very comfortable beds, and an outdoor shower with good light. The street is very quiet. I was surprised that basic kitchen supplies weren't included (foil, Saran Wrap, basic seasonings, etc). Easy enough to fix, but having such a short stay, I would have brought these things along with me if I new they wouldn't be there. The property manager was very responsive with our two little problems (no frying pans without chipped teflon and the grill was dirty). Overall a great stay and we would definitely consider renting again.

Needs some TLC - Would not recommend

Unfortunately I would not recommend this property. It needs work and multiple upgrades. The second “double room” located on the outside of the property is damp and would not be preferable to sleep in. Bikes are old and need to be serviced at a minimum. The deck is rotting in parts and overall the home could do with some TLC. Great location and could be a gem.

Beautiful place, misleading description

We found the house to be really cute and fun to stay in. The location was excellent and we even saw a deer on our last morning! Our main issues, and why this isn’t a 5 star rating, were that multiple lighting fixtures weren’t working and there was an entire bed missing. The ad mentions “1 queen, 1 double, 4 twin’ beds however there’s really 1 queen and 4 twins. This could have caused a big problem if our group was just a bit larger. The ad should be changed to reflect the accurate information of this home. Thanks for having us! Will rent again!

Relax on Fire Island

Great 4-day visit to Ocean Bay Park- this Geller-designed house was minutes from ferry, beach and market and easy walking/biking distance frome and Ocean Beach. Beds were comfy, grill and WiFi worked well (downstairs) and house was fun design, with decks on both floors. Before staying again, I’d ask if they had fixed the lights in MBR and LR, the shower for MBR and the low-performing fridge.

Architechtural gem

This is a very cool house with a very cool history. We were a group of 7 and had ample room for hanging out on the deck or inside at the kitchen bar. The bathroom shower upstairs didn't work (in fact, the plumber showed up the day we checked out), but that didn't affect us too much, as there is an outdoor shower with running hot/cold water, plus a small bathroom on the first floor. There were bikes available, which was a great surprise, as they weren't listed in the amenities (but the tires will probably need inflating). Carts are available for getting your items to the house from the ferry, but the one we had had a flat tire, making the pull a little difficult. My husband and I stayed in the upstairs queen room and were very comfortable. My sister and her husband stayed in the room off the downstairs deck and mentioned that it was quite humid and a little dank smelling, even with the air on. Overall, it was a really great time on Fire Isalnd, good location, and this house has inspired us to find other architectural gems to stay in while on vacation.

Great House

Great vacation house for my family! The location was perfect and it had everything we needed. However, there was no way to contact someone about the house. I messaged them a few different times before the trip and the day of and never received a response. Also, the cleaning crew was still there after check in time and came to the house a half an hour before check out. They did let us drop some things off at the house before check in though, which was very much appreciated.
