Great stay!
The home was very well equipped and the owners were great regarding communication. The beach is right across the street and the house has everything you need- plenty of space for a large group to spread out. We love the covered picnic table area for group dinners.

Great house and owners
What a great house and location! The owners were helpful and provided everything you could want. It has a beautiful beach view in front and a park with ball field, playground, and splash pad for the kids. Although there are two kitchens, our group of thirteen only used the one on the top floor. Would highly recommended this property.

Wonderful vacation
House was in beautiful location steps from the water. Kids loved the pool. Tons of room and everything you needed to enjoy your stay. I had never stayed in a house that really had everything we needed and more. Could have packed much lighter!

Great property
Had a total of 12 in our party. This property was great for all of us. Plenty of room to spread out but also great spaces for all to gather. Nicely decorated, great location. Thoroughly enjoyed out stay. Property Manager Nancy is top notch; Very friendly, responsive and professional. One of our best rentals in the many years we have visited OKI. Highly recommend.

The best house we have ever stayed at
We have been traveling as a family for the last 8 years and this is easily the best, most prepared, most organized house we have ever stayed at. The proximity to the beach was great as was the proximity to Middleton Park - they had a farmers/craft market on Monday and a summer concert series on Friday, not to mention a splash pad and playground for the kiddos. Keep your beach gear at home as this house has it all; umbrella, 2 cool cabanas (these are so easy to put up), beach toys, really nice beach chairs, and 2 beach wagons along with a lot of other items for the beach. Publix is within walking distance as well. You will not be disappointed in this home.

Amazing week at the beach!!
A perfect house for a large family with lots of kids. A great location very close to the beach and right across the street from the park and splash pad. We love Oak Island and this house has it all! We can’t wait to see you in 2024.

Pictures don't do it justice!
Nancy was great and got back to us right away with any questions we had. 3 families stayed which included 3 toddlers and 1 baby. The house literally had EVERYTHING you could think of. We overpacked so much stuff thinking it was like other rentals with limited supplies, but they really thought of everything. From kids toys, adult games, kitchen appliances, paper products, towels, etc, you really don't have to bring anything. Their storage area is packed with all the things! Beach toys, beach chairs, bikes, wagons, umbrellas, scooters, you name it. Loved the saltwater pool even though we couldn't stay in it long with the kids because it was still too cold but still enjoyed it. The rooms are bigger than what they look like in the pictures, plenty of room. The views of the beach are great, no house blocking the view, and having access right across the street was perfect, didn't even matter if we weren't technically "beachfront" it pretty much felt like it. We could walk to the playground, splash pad, publix, restaurants, and our favorite every morning was walking to the OKI donut shoppe. Would definitely come back and stay here again! Thank you

2nd stay this year!
Love this home. Clean, well laid out, great location for beach access and walkable shopping (groceries)! Didn’t use our car for a week. The park behind us was great for the kids also. We will be back again for sure!

Perfect home for making memories!
This property was PERFECTLY equipped for making memories; it had everything that we needed to accommodate our children and grandchildren. The location was perfect (across the street from a beach access and a lovely public park directly behind with a mini water park for the little kids). The amenities on the property were great (fully equipped kitchen, grill, games, beach equipment, bicycles, etc.). And the host was easily accessible and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property.

3 generation vacation
Great house with a lot of space for our big family vacation. Only steps from the beach that were made easy with two big beach carts. The beach chairs, umbrellas and toys were in great condition. Double kitchens and washer/dryer were a plus for everyone to have their space. The location was convenient with shopping nearby but out of sight from the home. Had the pleasure of meeting the host and the owners who are wonderful people that are very friendly and responded within minutes to any questions. Would recommend this property to anyone looking for a laid back beach vacation.

Perfect house and location for 16 family members
We are three generations ranging in age from 5 to 77. We especially enjoyed the beach house decks and the proximity to the beach. There was more than enough room to spread out yet be together for fun times and conversation. Also, the grandchildren loved the elevator.

Best place ever!
As a family of 19, finding a house that meets all of our accommodation requirements is a real feat. This property exceeded all of our expectations. My husband and I use VRBO regularly when we travel, but we have never stayed anywhere as clean, well kept and well stocked as this one! Everything we needed was there. All we needed to pack was our clothes! There were even frosted mugs in each of the two extra refrigerators! And with 10 kids in our party, the location was absolutely perfect! Even though the house is across the street from the ocean, there is an unobstructed view and a beach access right in front of the house. And directly behind is the park and the splash pad. Thank you Nancy for a wonderful experience!

This property was amazing! Beautiful, well stocked in all aspects - kitchen, beach items, games, bikes - this place had it all. Nancy was great. We had 3 generations of our family staying and all enjoyed it immensely. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

Stunning Home Away From Home
Pictures do not do this property justice. This was a beautiful, comfy, and spacious property. My family and I met to celebrate Thanksgiving and we couldn’t have asked for more. The property was very clean and stocked with everything needed for a vacation filled with fun. Nancy is amazing, kind, and very personable. She was very easy to reach and immediately responsive to my messages. My family and I had never visited Oak Island prior to this trip, but we most definitely will return and wouldn’t stay in any other place.

Wonderful stay for annual friends & family beach vacation!
We enjoyed a fabulous week in the entire house and appreciated all the amenities and attention to details: tasteful and high end furnishings, kitchen appliances, laundry/dishwashing detergent, paper products, bath towels, beach towels/chairs, cornhole/bocci/spike ball - all of which helped us save tons of space in packing for the trip. Nancy was also very proactive and responsive, especially when the dishwasher broke in the upstairs unit, and did everything she could to remedy the situation. While we would have preferred to be beachfront, this location was ideal with a direct view of the ocean (no house blocking due to public access directly across the small street), to which we walked easily back and forth with all our beach gear in the very sturdy beach carts provided. The beach itself was rather hard and rocky but was clean and not very crowded. We really enjoyed having Middleton Park behind the house and took advantage of the basketball and pickleball courts almost every day we were there. Listening to the Friday night outdoor concert from our back porch was also very enjoyable. Having Publix only 5 minutes away was very convenient, although there was not much else besides ice cream, small pizza joints and chain beach shops close by. If you're looking for a laid-back and relaxing vacation with friends and family without a lot of retail/restaurant/entertainment options close by, this is a wonderful choice!

Wonderful vacation!
We had the most wonderful week at Steps Away! It is literally steps away from everything you need. The location couldn’t be more perfect with the beach directly across, Middleton Park directly behind(with playground, splash pad, ball field and Friday night concert)and Publix a block away! It was perfect for our family that ranged in age from 95 to 8 months! The house is also well equipped with everything needed! It truly was a wonderful vacation week. We can’t wait to return!
