No, the room wasn't "spotless" it could have used a little more attention. We stayed over a week and not one time could we tell anyone had been in to check nor clean the room. We went out and bought hand towels & the like for our use. I gave you five stars because the staff, when there, was great. Always smiling and helpful about what to find..

Hotel/Motel or Holiday Inn.

At first glance you realize that this is an aged place with working outdated appliances and amenities. The television had a broken leg that was taped up (I placed a coffee K cup under the leg to level the TV. I loved the proximity to the Beachfront, however my wife would have preferred a higher view of the beach. Breakfast was VERY good and I think was reasonably priced. I would stay there again because the price was right. The staff was warm and friendly, and Parking was pretty good. It’s an older place…and I’m an old soul!

This is an older property that needs some attention. However, the room was clean and the beds comfortable. If you are looking for a reasonable price and basic accommodations, you won't be disappointed

We had a great week here July 2025. Nice that there’s a cafe restaurant in the building in case you don’t feel like leaving for food. Not the most perfect, nice place but… the price reflects that. We came for the beach not to sit in our room, and this is right on the beach. Understand that all of the rentals down here are a constant revolving door with little or no time to clean perfectly or make repairs between guests during the busy season no matter where you stay. Take that into consideration before expecting perfection. This place is awesome and the staff are as well. Have a problem or question and they are on top of it. Ive stayed in much more expensive places in the area, and had issues that went unresolved for our entire stay. They went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay here. We will be back for sure.

The Blockade Runner is close to non-beach activities, restaurants and bars and grocery stores, etc. I like how accessible the beach is. The onsite Bar & Grill was nice. What I didn’t like, the place is rundown, it is in need of a serious upgrade especially the bathroom!! Needs a new tub and shower head - it takes forever to get shampoo out of your hair because the shower head is so bad!!! The carpet is nasty and it is old and threadbare. There is no daily cleaning service, if you run out of toilet paper you have to go to the front desk to ask for more, same for bath towels, etc. if you’re looking for a fairly low cost beach hotel then The Blockade Runner will fill that bill but just know that the place is old and has never had any updates to the rooms!!

Poor management

Very old, run down motel. Sign said it was under new management. Place is in desperate need of repairs. You name it, it needs it. They need automatic doors. Lobby had steps leading to the elevator and no ramp inside which made it difficult to maneuver the luggage cart; you had to go outside all the way to the far side of the building to go up the ramp and all the way back down the hall to get to the elevator. Garbage and old discarded air conditioning units lying around. Small elevator with no AC in them. Our room was muggy when we first went in because some idiot put the thermostat on 60 degrees and froze the unit. Our room was dirty with dust everywhere, shower curtain had pink mildew all over the bottom of it. Someone else’s water bottle was behind the night stand so that right there tells you no one cleaned the room thoroughly. One small trash can in the whole room and it was dirty. Asked for towels, never got them. One small roll of toilet paper for two people for three days…..went out and bought some. Inconvenient and not worth the money paid. We left the room cleaner than when we found it. If I could have gotten a refund I would have left as soon as I walked in the door.

Pool was very dirty. Tables are rusted through. Karaoke is annoying if you actually wanted to take an afternoon nap to recharge for the evening. Rooms are dated but tolerable. Pillows are lacking. Wasn't disappointed bus not impressed. Check in was easy.

The property received a lower overall and cleanliness rating because of the age of the property. It is very apparent that the cleaning and general upkeep is being done, but with the age and the proximity to the beach I'm sure they are doing all they can with what they have. The restaurant was great for dinner and breakfast, the front desk staff and the cleaning staff were all great. I will definitely return.

Staff excellent, view excellent, easy beach access, wonderful pool, and easy access to restaurants/entertainment/shopping. Negative things were that the Bed pillows were horrible and all swollen room doors stuck.

Check in was fine , very friendly, no problems Property was very rundown!!! And dirty!!! Pillows wore out, mattress lumpy and uncomfortable. Smell in room was almost unbearable, my allergies were in high gear! Dirty dishes in cabinet!no coffee! Restaurant food was unedible! It was so bad i only started 1 of the 2 nights i paid for. I will not be staying at this property again

The room was perfect for what we needed. Property needs some updates and could have been cleaner. We would stay again! Just bring some Clorox wipes and some dish soap! I'm not to proud to tidy up to my likings!

Clean but Older

Room was clean but carpet and furniture was old and outdated. Staff were very nice and responsive when we had an air conditioning issue. Always there to help you in any way they could. Nice pool area.
