The owner didn’t receive our booking or payment from hotels.com until the day before we arrived and she was quite nervous about it—wanting me to call you for information, instead of taking care of it herself. Quite unprofessional. When we arrived she then told me that we had underpaid. I told her I would not be paying more than I already had thru hotels.com. But the whole interaction was just unheard of. My bed was terribly lumpy (mattress springs sticking up.) the hotel staff was kind and attentive—made every effort to go the distance. The rooms were clean. It’s hard to compare a hotel in a growing town in Kenya to anything using standards of a developed nation. Everything is just a bit run down and shabby. That said, if I were to go to Nanyuki again and could stay at Beisa for the price I paid, I’d be happy to because the hotel staff is so wonderful. I felt safe and cared for. (With the exception of the hotel owner, who remained rude.)
