I’ve rented many properties in Chautauqua over the years, and this was one of my favorites. It is in an historic older building, with a beautiful partial view of the lake from its large front porch, and only a few minutes walk from Bestor Plaza, the Amphitheater, and many of the venues where talks are held during the season.
Like all old buildings in Chautauqua, it had some quirks. But the updates that have been made are very nice. The kitchen was well-equipped and spacious, the living area attractive, with a dining room table that would easily seat 6. The bed I used was quite comfortable, with a semi-firm mattress and lots of pillow choices.
Communication with Heidi, the owner, was excellent.
I’m not sure I would stay there during the season because it has no parking spot. I’d be torn, though, because it is such a nice place and so conveniently located. Off-season you can easily park near by. This visit was off-season, and I don’t think I could have found a more perfect place.
Thank you Heidi and Charlie for that little spot of paradise.
