We had the reviews about how comfortable it was to stay here, so our expectations were high, which often leads to disappointment. Needless to say, that didn't happen. There is something about being so close to the water, aided by such a comfortable and welcoming space, that just makes all your troubles disappear. The only problem with staying with Paul & Gina is the difficulty of leaving.
It is a bit remote, but that probably adds to the peacefulness and did not prove a problem to us at all. We stopped in Marquette on our way in, went back for dinner and a symphony concert in the park the next night and then spent our last day soaking up the local color surrounding Anatomy of A Murder, and the real crime that was its basis. If you ask nicely at the Lumberjack Tavern, they will bring out the part of the bar that has the real bullet holes. Or at least they convinced us of that. For our first time in the UP, we could not have made a better selection.
