However, our otherwise enjoyable experience was let down by the lack of attention to detail, in terms of house-keeping and maintenance/repair. When paying a top-end price (about 7k for 4 nights) it was disappointing that several lights did not work (including bathroom lights, dining room main light, bathroom mirror light), the Aga never got up to cooking temperature even after 4 days...

“We stayed for a week in December during a hard time for our family, and the property was just what we were after; rural, quiet and calm, with a lovely pub just yards away. The only issue we ran into was that the dishwasher was too small to clean the plates provided. But the owner was pleasant, the wood burner made things cost, and the bathroom was clean. Napton is a lovely village with a really good local store, and the Folly pub is fantastic. This property would work for a couples’ mini-break...

“Lovely hotel, room was 10/10, good value. However quite thin walls, you could hear the chairs scraping on other floors (probably from the restaurant) which woke me up. Bathroom fan also ridiculously loud and annoying. Restaurant food was sub-par, slightly disappointing, the dishes did not match what was on the menu, definitely not worth the price. Staff were great and breakfast was lovely.”
