Having driven around (and sometimes straight through) Macon an endless number of times, we decided it would be a great place for a weekend getaway. This spacious property was fabulous with everything we could have needed: close proximity to restaurants and museums, exceedingly clean and comfortable, and very secure.
We preferred to walk to nearby restaurants instead of utilizing the kitchen much, but it had everything we could have wanted: plenty of dishes, pans, utensils, toaster, Keurig coffee maker. If you are planning to travel over Fourth of July, be aware that most nearby restaurants will be closed so you will have to get in the car and probably find a chain somewhere.
We started our morning with a trip to the Visitors' Center, learning more about the area from two of the sweetest volunteers. We grabbed some brochures from local attractions and walked to the Tubman Museum, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Sports Museum is right across the street, both within a block of the loft.
Parking was easy in a nearby lot using a mobile app.
The people of Macon are friendly and very proud of the Southern Rock roots that run deep in the town. It's fun seeing all the old memorabilia and concert posters that adorn the walls of the local restaurants. The loft also has some vintage records among the fun theme of the Otis Redding room. We appreciated the thoughtful additions of plenty of towels, a big closet, games, and a bar setup with copper mugs and bar tools.
