Lenox’ tradition of luxury dates back to Gilded Age ‘Summer Cottages’ where high society entertained friends and family at private country estates. Today these luxuries are found at resorts replete with spas, fine dining, recreation and more. Yet they don’t offer the ultimate luxury: privacy.
The Winthrop Estate is a true break from the world. We were struck by the privacy: nobody in sight, nothing competing for our attention. Relaxing with a partner in an environment like this is priceless. Time for quiet contemplation is scarce; we highly value opportunities to embrace it.
Ethylwynde captures the spirit of the Gilded Age while offering tasteful modernizations. From reliable WiFi to updated amenities, it seamlessly blends the best of both eras.
We enjoyed dinner at Alta before retiring to Ethylwynde for the best sleep we’ve had in ages. The walls of the master bedroom are lined with an acoustic treatment that blocks any ambient noise. The bed is massive, and fitted with decadent linens and pillows.
We slept in and had breakfast at Haven. We took our coffees back to the estate for an unrushed morning and settled into a pair of antique leather chairs to play a game of Scrabble.
Packing up was painful; you won’t want to leave, either. Whether to celebrate a special occasion, or just quietly enjoy one another’s company, Ethylwynde is an absolute dream. If you want to live your best life, you’ll be hard pressed to find better accommodations than the Winthrop Estate.
