While the location is beautiful, this is NOT the house to rent. The management company (Whalers Investment Group dba Vacation-Maui.com) did a poor job and it really negatively impacted our vacation. With this EXPENSIVE rental, this is indefensible. Character limitation will shortcut our review...
Our experience began as we walked in the door to see error light flashing on the dishwasher. Uh-oh. We are a 3 generation family of 8 (two toddlers) and we were without a dishwasher for roughly 4 days, adding HOURS of hand dish-washing each day. When we called the management company, they sent over a repairman the 2nd day, who was unable to fix it. The management company then told us that another repairman would not be there until Day 4 AND were told that WE would have to give up a complete afternoon of OUR time to wait through the 6 hour arrival window for this next repairman. They were unyielding on this and made no apologies to us whatsoever. This is the Management Company’s job and insisting that the paying guests resolve their operational issues is a huge red flag. (Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised to learn that before departing, the Management Company also required us to take out all of the trash, start a load of their laundry, shut down all electrical usage (including A/C) and be out by 10AM or be immediately charged a penalty $550 fee (we had to text them to tell them we were gone).
Other significant operational issues included:
>> **the primary door (the slider to the patio and beach) was almost unusable, requiring the grown men (leaning their full body weight) to open and close this primary door. (The only other door was to the carport on the parking lot side of the townhouse.)
***the air conditioning was inadequate in the primary living space as well as the third floor (temps were in the mid 80’s - low 90’s)
>> **** the kitchen supplies were insufficient in terms of all drink-ware, pots and pans, kitchen utensils etc. We even had to purchase additional paper towels and toilet paper, and garbage bags ourselves to get through the week.
>> *****the marketing materials (photos) are very MISLEADING as there is NO second family room, as shown in the photo images (it is just the prior decor of the exact same room) and the hammock, which was a huge draw for us, belongs to the next townhouse, not this house.
*** Also issues w shower door, refrig drawer, toilet.... could go on......
