My husband and I wanted to just take bikes across the ferry so we could explore the island by bike. There was a dirt area near the ferry in Bayfield where we could park our car for free (first-come-first-served). The condo was the ideal location as we had to carry a few bags as well--literally 1 block away from the ferry landing! It was clean and updated, with a fridge/microwave, basic utensils, and dishes. Because this is off season, be prepared to bring some microwaveable food, especially during the week. There were no breakfast places other than the coffee shop (she was injured so was only serving baked goods--normally she has breakfast sandwiches). The only lunch option is a food truck (Rockhouse) from 11-1. For dinner, only the Pub on the south end and the Beach Club by the ferry are available, except the Beach Club is closed on Mondays. A couple of other places are apparently open on Weekends. The grocery store is essentially a quick mart with basic essentials and some fresh produce. They sometimes have deli sandwiches available but they are not made to order, just random availability. Everything is within walking distance. Roads to the state park are marked with bike lanes and there's not much traffic. The park is amazing. Beautiful groomed hiking trails and the boardwalk near the sandy beach is a must-see. Camp sites are wooded and separated. There is even a spot where you can put $10 into a box and take out a kayak in the lagoon.
