Already booking again
The location was ideal for us. Close enough to walk to places in Duck (1 mile-ish). Down far enough so that Kill Devil Hills / Kitty Hawk weren't that far. And it's on the beach. The amenities and details provided exceeded our expectations. The hosts are quickly responsive to questions and communicated with us along the way. As my title said, we are already looking to book this location again. And I may even book it on my own, sans spouse. I loved it that much.

Milestone Birthday Celebration
My husband and I had an amazing time during our stay at Sugar Shack! I appreciate Joyce checking in to see if we needed anything and gave restaurant recommendations. The house was spotless and loved the labels making finding items in the kitchen a breeze! Appreciated all the basic essentials provided such as coffee pods, sugar packets, spices, shampoo, makeup remover, tissue, toilet paper and hand soap! The townhouse was comfortable and cozy, a contrast of your typical realtor managed homes! The view and sound of the ocean was spectacular! It was easy getting to the beach with the wooden board walk so close to the townhouse! Loved the town of Duck! Many new restaurants and shops since our last visit 20+ years ago! The wide lighted walking/bike paths were great! I highly recommend Sugar Shack if you’re looking for a couples retreat or for a family beach trip!

Sugar Shack is the Best!
We have stayed in Georgetown Sands for over 20 years but not at Sugar Shack until this year. It was perfect!!! The house is equipped with everything you could want or need. It was super clean and comfortable and just steps from the beach!!! Georgetown Sands has the best location - it’s walking distance to Duck and 20 minutes to anywhere else! We have already booked a week for next summer!! I highly recommend it!!!

Another wonderful week
This was our second stay at the Sugar Shack and it did not disappoint. Absolutely perfect spot for our family of four and conveniently right by the beach. Tons of amenities and extras that make our stay so comfortable. Can’t beat it! I’m just sad we didn’t book in time for next year!

Another great vacation at Sugar Shack
This is our 12th year staying at the Sugar Shack. It goes without saying, we wouldn't keep going back if it wasn't the perfect vacation home. It's within walking distance of Duck shopping - a must - and, of course, great beach access. Thanks again for a wonderful time!

Graduation/18th birthday trip
Pictures do not do justice to how perfect the sugar shack is. The owners went over and beyond to make sure our stay was everything we wanted. Great recommendations that worked for our family of 4. Although we didn’t have small children with us, the house has plenty of accommodations for them as well as a relaxing atmosphere for the teens and adults. The fully functioning kitchen made for easy home cooked meals enjoyed on the deck while seeing and listening to the wind and ocean waves. Will absolutely book with Janice and Bud at the sugar shack on our next trip to OBX. Can’t imagine staying anywhere else!

Beach access was worth the stay
Enjoyed the communication with owners once we arrived they made it easy to get into the home and were friendly. We did not expect such close neighbors, the house is attached to another rental. The first impression of the house was overwhelming because of written notes that were taped everywhere you turned. We felt uncomfortable for a week in the home. This rental was not a good fit for us. Beautiful home though for the owner and family.

We loved staying at the Sugar Shack home! The oceanfront views are amazing! Bud and Janice were so kind and made sure we were settled in and had a wonderful gift waiting for us. Sweet week at the Sugar Shack
We enjoyed our week at Bud and Janice’s home in Duck. They were terrific hosts - responsive to all our questions and requests. They also provided great tips on local restaurants and things to do. Their condo was very clean with a fully stocked kitchen. We all look forward to returning soon!

We had a wonderful time staying at the sugar shack. The home was clean and well stocked with everything you could red in the kitchen! Close to stores and restaurants but an even better location for the beach. Being able to have my coffee in the sand was exactly what I was looking for! Would recommend and choose for future stays.

Fantastic week
We had a fantastic, relaxing week in Duck. The weather was picture perfect. This property was great, very comfortable. Beautiful sunrises greeted us each morning as we had coffee on the deck. 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths were very generously appointed. The kitchen was very well stocked and we were able to cook several meals seamlessly. It felt like I was cooking at home. They had many extras such as travel cups to take your coffee for early morning beach walks and a “Welcome” basket of chocolates. The very thoughtful hosts even called to make sure we were able to get in and get settled and then offered several dinner recommendations. We will be back!

Perfect location
Sugar Shack is a lovely place directly on the ocean. The owners have created a space that is so welcoming and comfortable, plus it has every amenity one could ask for…the kitchen is especially outfitted with all a chef needs. Master suite has a great walk in shower and very comfy bed. The owners were so accommodating and easy to work with. Looking forward to our next visit!

Great spot with even better views
My sisters and I stayed here for a few days in between Christmas and New Years and really enjoyed our stay! Right on the water and super close to downtown Duck which is also adorable. We would love to stay here again!

Wonderful house with spectacular views
This house has everything you could ask for in a beach house and more. We watched dolphins jumping out of the water during the sunrise, go for a run on the conveniently located Duck Trail and boardwalk, and cook wonderful meals in the fully stocked kitchen. Highly recommend staying here.
