Great Unique Experience
My wife and I had a lovely 3 night stay on the Thirsty Lady. Capt Pat and his son PJ are great. They are very friendly and we felt as if we were part of their family. Capt Pat has extensive knowledge of Key West including bars and restaurants. If you are the type of person who seeks out authentic experiences and likes the idea of living on a boat, you will like his recommendations.
Life on the boat is a bit cramped, but comfy. There is a fridge, sink, and a cook stove (that we never used). The bathrooms are small and really just for essential use. The main Marina has very nice private bathrooms and showers.
There is not much nearby the Marina, but there is an hourly shuttle to the downtown area, or you can catch a ubiquitous Uber
The Marina for the second night is downtown. The amenities are not as nice, but the location is spectacular. You can watch the sunset from your boat and crash back into the boat after a late night of Duval street shenanigans.
Through no fault of theirs, we had a somewhat abbreviated sailing experience. Waves and wind made the snorkeling a bit of a challenge. The reef was very nice for an open water snorkel. Our third day was very windy and one of the stays snapped, cutting short our sail. Capt Pat offered to drive us around Key West and was extremely gracious
Throughout the trip Capt Pat and his family did everything to make sure we had a great stay. They are outstanding hosts!
