Worst experience ever!!
The pre communication with the host was good. Upon arrival, which was around 9pm, we enter with the front door being unlocked. Okay! Upon further inspection of the house, we noticed the patio door did not have a lock and there were no securing mechanisms like if you’re in a hotel with a balcony. We immediately called the host and the excuses started. The housekeeper left the front door open, which wasn’t a big of an ordeal. He made us feel it was such an inconvenience for him to find someone to come over and secure the patio door that time of night. So, we said fine and could wait until the morning. However, after further discussion with my family, being in an unfamiliar location, neighborhood a little sketchy, we contacted and informed the host we were uncomfortable staying and would check out the next morning and stay in a hotel. I received a long scathing text from the host that he wasn’t going to refund our money. I reiterated with him it’s a safety and security concern we had and we are uncomfortable. Another long and scathing text message. I attempted to call him several times and sent several follow up messages to speak on the phone but he completely ignored all communication. It has been two weeks discussing this issue with VRBO and still no resolve with a refund. Absolutely disappointed and disgusted with the process.
