“The staff - special mention for Sam - were helpful and there when needed. I forgot to pack our toothbrushes and we were supplied with them free of charge. The bedroom was small but it's an old coaching inn so many irregularities to be expected. The bathroom was big! Dinner and breakfast were very good and the location is good. Not far to the lake district or borders and very peaceful in a small village.”

“Fantastic stop for Hadrians wall hike. Unfortunately the room smelled of wet dog. Not all clients like dogs. Otherwise food was good quality and we had an early check in which was appreciated.”

“As a key worker I booked online money was taken , we received an email direct from the hotel confirming our booking. we arrived after a 5 hour drive to find the hotel closed! Not happy with never book again.”

“Very nice country pub with excellent beer and nice atmosphere. Don't expect 4 star hotel rooms but then you don't pay anything close to 4 star hotel prices! My room was clean, comfortable and all you need for an overnight stay. The food was OK but could improve a bit - the fish was over-battered, the chips not fully cooked. The full English breakfast the next morning was fine. The only gripe was that the young staff woke me up at 01-30 chatting and laughing out the back of the pub, right...
