We met up in Hilton Head with another couple since it was a five-hour drive for each of us. We spent three nights over Thanksgiving reconnecting and enjoying one another's company. Unfortunately, the people who were staying in the unit next to us had three dogs that barked loudly and constantly from late morning until early evening while the humans were out and about, leaving the dogs alone in the unit. The walls are pretty thin, and the dogs could be heard in the parking lot that was about 100 yards away, so you can imagine how loud they were from the other side of the thin wall that separated us. When we complained, one of the dog owners replied that this is why they stay in condos instead of hotels. Excuse me? Is that because other renters have no one to whom to complain when someone leaves their barking dogs unattended for hours on end?!?
The unit itself was comfortable and well outfitted, but we would not stay there again, knowing that dogs are welcome in adjoining units.
