Lovely Mountain Getaway
Awesome, private cabin with numerous amenities (stocked kitchen, bathroom, etc.). This is a perfect location to easily access Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Park, or take a short drive into Brevard, Hendersonville, or Asheville for food and beer. Very comfortable beds, TVs in every room, lovely views from windows around the home. We love this property and plan to return. Hosts were very communicative, but all our needs were already met!

Our stay at Shady Oak Shanty was truly a respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Very comfortable and peaceful. Really felt like we were up in the trees. Greg and Jen were responsive and wonderful to work with. Lovely time there. comfortable

Great place to get away
Everything we needed was there. The hosts were very responsive and helpful when we communicated with them. Check-out was simple and easy. Cabin was very unique with it being so close to roads, but completely hidden in the trees.

Great Stay
The cabin, location to our chosen activities, and hosts were spot on. We were there for 5 nights. The kitchen had everything we needed. If we come back to vacation in this area, we will definitely rent this place again.

Contemporary Cabin
We loved staying in this beautiful and well appointed contemporary cabin. Clean and comfortable and located perfectly with an easy drive to so many waterfall hikes and cute towns for shopping and restaurants. Jen and Greg were so easy to work with. Loved it!

Perfect location for a mountain stay
This lovely cabin was perfectly located—quiet and hidden away in the woods but close to the grocery store and convenient to DuPont State Forest, Pisgah National Forest, and all the fun things available in Hendersonville, Brevard, and Asheville.

Getting together with friends
Asheville is in between our homes which made it a good location to get together. The cabin was well equipped and the USB towers, in the bedroom, were a nice touch. If the weather had been better, we would have had a fire in the fire pit. Very nice cabin.

We absolutely loved this place! It was just as advertised. The place was very clean and neat and the decor was perfect. We loved spending our time out by the fire pit and enjoying the view. Can't wait to come back!

Our Mardi Gras Getaway
This was our first experience staying in a mountain cabin. Overall we loved the house and would definitely recommend staying here. The hosts were great and did a good job of communicating everything to us.

Wonderful winter stay
The shady shanty is everything it says in the listing and more. Well appointed, clean, oh-so-cozy nights by the fire… really close to downtown / main Hendersonville as well as a nearby pizza place that’s local and great, a lovely park, a local gym with weekly passes and very close to great hikes in DuPont Park and Pisgah mountains and breweries for refreshments. Greg and Jen were very quick to welcome us, reply to any inquiries, and just really lovely hosts who show how much they love their place.

Mountain birthday trip
We loved most everything. The house had plenty of space. Kitchen was adequate form our needs. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The house had a lot of good reviews about being so clean but we found dirty socks stuffed between cushions. And there were spider webs and dust in a few areas. The thing that got my attention the most is that the main entrance there were a lot of leaves on the steps , walkway and deck. The location was beautiful and just secluded/private enough.

The BEST
I doubted the 5 ⭐️ rating, but I was so wrong! Clean and spacious property, perfectly situated between Pisgah/DuPont/Hendersonville/Brevard, best owners, perfect instructions, no extra check out “to do list”, fully stocked with more things than you could think of, and a sweet welcome bag … I wouldn’t change one thing! If I could give 10 ⭐️, I would! Ps hike up to looking glass rock in Pisgah- so worth the effort! Pss WILL be back
