Our stay in the Hidden Pines Cottage August 14 - 17, 2025 was just what we needed. It was secluded, private, the cottage was so nice and had everything we needed. The fishing was off as the water temperature was probably high driving the fish out to deeper water. We have two kayaks that we haven’t been using but the time we spent on the water was like a shot in the arm to get ours out and hit some local lakes. Ed was quick to respond via text messages on any issues or concerns. He was very accommodating to all our needs. We would highly recommend it to all those that need a peaceful refuge away from the chaotic world.

Relaxing

Nice & secluded. Amazing view and very relaxing, especially fishing on the dock. Recommend bringing all your food & drinks with you on day one, because once you're there, you don't want to leave.

Incredible Beauty!

We have rented numerous properties over the last 13 years, and this one may be the best yet. The house is pretty and comfortable with well-appointed kitchen. The highlight, though, is the lake view -- priceless! The boathouse is such an added treat. We plan to do this again. Thanks to our hosts for sharing.

Great Thanksgiving Getaway

My boys and I had a great time at this lakeside cabin over Thanksgiving. It was very restful and beautiful. The sunsets on the lake were incredible. Unfortunately the fish weren’t biting but we went kayaking a few times, had a couple bonfires and just enjoyed time together.

This place is beautiful. The back porch is perfect. The view in the in the morning is spectacular. But nothing can beat the sunset in the evening. Great place. Will come back.

Amazing, Relaxing, and memorable

This property was amazing!!! We had such an amazing time our 7year old did not wanna leave. The location and views were stunning. We could sit on that front porch and have our coffee every morning and never get tired of the view. Can’t wait to book again in a few months!!!!

Great Calm Spot!

Relaxing Stay! The listing was as shown on Vrbo, The owner checked in twice via text, and the listing agency did so as well. Expect to be on your own, and the 4-wheel drive recommendation is completely correct for bad weather. One note, download your maps and instructions before you turn off the paved roads, there is no service until you reach the house. The home was in good condition, quiet clean, and had all the basics to cook for a family. The nearest town was over 10 miles away via backroads - but this meant with a little planning it was a wonderfully quiet week.

Lake Vacay

Very beautiful, peaceful property. My family and I loved the lake and getting to fish, swim and kayak. The house is nice , clean and very comfortable. The water pressure in the showers was amazing!! The kitchen has everything you need. The porch was perfect with the view of the lake and beautiful trees. We're already ready to go back. The owner is more than accomodating and we had no issues whatsoever. Very pleasant trip!

Rained Out

Beautiful house. Fishing was poor. Storms, flooding and Heavy Rain forced us leave one day early. No TV reception. A partial refund would be welcomed.

Birthday weekend

This location is perfect! We enjoyed fishing at the boathouse, kayaking on the lake, and playing board games. The rain did not keep us down! We enjoyed every minute of this trip and we will be booking in the future. Thank you for such an amazing rental!

Great property!

I wanted to take my husband to a spot on Houston County Lake to Kayak as a Christmas gift. We are both so pleased with this choice. The property is clean, comfortable, and stocked SO WELL with everything you need for your stay. The boathouse is a plus with easy access to launch kayaks. AND...the owner is always available and willing to help in any way he can. The property is a little bit of a challenge to get to, however it is well worth the rather long drive down a dirt road. Hidden Pine Cottage is jewel!

Great family lake house

This is a great home on the lake. Lots of fun activities for the kids. Comfy beds. Well stocked kitchen. Boat house is wonderful and a nice spot for morning coffee. We will be back.

Wonderful retreat

This was a perfect place for our annual trip to Texas. Everything was fantastic. House was very clean and large enough for the four of us and our dog. Great views from the large living room window. We very much enjoyed the boat house and the fire pit. Only downside was we had zero luck fishing, but I think that might have been us. 😊. Hoping to make it back next year.
