“Well maintained property, very clean. Host was available and friendly but also allowed some privacy. Great downtown area. ”

“Captain's Cottage is super cute! The pictures really dont do it justice. We were a block from the beach. Snug Harbour and Noto's are a must for waterfront dining. Downtown had lots to offer as well and was walking distance to CC. We had to make a trip to Meijer...also very close...and was astonished at the cleanliness and upscale feel of this store. We had a great, although too short stay, at Captain's Cottage.”

“Had a confirmed booking and was charged however I never received any information on how to check into the property. I arrived at the property and no one was there for me to check in. I messaged the owner on the VRBO app and never received a response. After traveling several hours to stay at this property I had to scramble to make other arrangements for the weekend. VRBO customer service to resolve this and provide a refund is atrocious and have been no help.”

“I have traveled to Grand Haven numerous times in the past. This property was by far the most attractive with full kitchen and full amenities. The view from the 3 balconies and windows is stunning. Due to the property location we were able to listen to the New Years Eve music celebrations from the property instead of enduring the rain and we were able to view the New Years fireworks from our balacony. ”

“Great location. As expected with a downstairs unit, we heard normal noise from upstairs, scooting chairs, rushing water from flushed toilets, etc. But overall a very clean comfortable place.”

“All aspects of this property met our expectations except for the bedroom situation. The property is listed as 5 bedrooms, but only one bedroom (new addition) has full walls. The other 4 bedrooms have open rafter ceiling which makes each room connected as far as noise is concerned. If you are traveling with other couples, this may not be advantageous. That being said, the location is great and the view from the deck is lovely. Jay is also a very gracious host. ”

“This was a rather last minute booking, so to find something this perfect to be available was a real surprise. The property had everything we needed, could use some upgrades to the patio furniture ..of the two chairs provided, when we moved the back cushion of one we noticed the entire backing was blown out, and the second one began to crack during our stay, so we had to get creative with borrowing chairs from my brother who fortunately lives in town. “We truly enjoyed the quirky charm of the cottage. Very comfortable with everything we needed. Beds were comfortable with great pillows and bedding. Loved the deer outside our window, short walk or drive to the lake. Lack of sound privacy didn’t bother us, but maybe would others.”

“We were very excited to stay here, mostly due to the overall cabin-like feel we got from the pictures and description and the proximity to the beach. There are the equivalent of 3 flights of stairs leading up that were not mentioned in the listing. The pictures made it look like a single flight which is doable, but 3 flights up carrying luggage and then having that be the only access was a deal breaker for someone with a heart condition and bad knees. The stairs were not lit when we arrived...

“Second visit to this property. We love the location with walking distance to downtown and beach, patio and pool. We were very happy with our stay. ”

“The house is in an amazing location. Walking distance to Grand Haven Beach, you really can't beat it. The house itself is older and doesn't have the modern day comforts. But if you just need somewhere to put you head down at night, and wake up and enjoy a view with you morning coffee, this checks that box.”
