Clean and spacious

This place felt like home for these few days. The place is clean, spacious and in a great neighborhood. Ease in checking in and out. If you looking for a place to spend your vacation days with peace of mind, look no further to Backwater Cottage.

Comfortable small town stay

The rental was clean and spacious. It had everything that we needed. Worked well for our small family. I visted with my wife and our 2 and half year old. It felt like a rental not someones home(thats our preference for vrbos). They even had a small box of toys which my son enjoyed. Its not overpowering but you can tell the owner is battling mositure and humidty issues so might be an issue for some renters if sensitve to that type of thing. Near decent bars and restaurants, quick drive to winona for more amenities. I would rent it again.

Great Place and Nice Location

Loved all the extras the place offered that were not even mentioned...all the kitchen supplies, gas grill, etc. The house very clean house and was perfect for our weekend stay.

Hot water

The rooms were all very clean except the bathroom. When the shower curtain was pulled open there was a cobweb that had to be pulled away before we could step in. There was no hot water when we went to take a shower. I understand a tripped breaker was the reason, but having hot water should have been checked out before we arrived. All of that kept us from enjoying our first night of 3 there. But the rest of the home was clean.

Great Place

I highly recommend this place. It’s clean, has everything you need, and the beds are very comfortable. We have stayed 3 times and we will be back again. It is homie and comfortable and a beautiful river town.

Pleasant stay with some hiccups.

Cute farmhouse decor, comfortable beds, a short walk to river and restaurants. The bathroom was clean but small for 4 people. There were mirrors in the bedrooms which helped. When we arrived the temp was 79* and the AC was not on. We noticed a musty smell and high humidity in the house which did not improve. We did have to regularly empty the dehumidifier during our stay. The one window AC unit was small and the house temp averaged 77 degrees during our stay. In spite of a few issues we enjoyed our time in Fountain City and with a few tweeks this could be a comfortable place to stay.

Great property

We enjoyed our stay so much. Everything we needed there. Above sink light fixture didn’t work but main bathroom light did. Host very responsive to questions. We were able to walk to bars and restaurants. Would stay again for sure.

Perfect for our weekend!

The Backwaters Cottage was very cute, very well equipped and perfect for our weekend! It's walking distance from restaurants and the river and the back patio is lovely for your morning cup of tea!

Clean cute decor

Clean well kept property. Easy check-in. Good shower. Could have used kitchen towels. We were expected to wash , dry and put kitchen dishes away but had to use small kitchen washcloths for the whole process. One bed was good, one bed was softer. Ate at the Monarch one night. All meals were good. Had drinks and dessert at the Lily pad. Great space on the water.

Great Location/Great Town

Had our yearly family reunion here, first time staying here under new ownership and Patti was great to work with. She was very accommodating and we love the house. Property is clean, neighborhood is quiet and it has everything you need in a weekend getaway.
