The place was located in a great spot - about a 7 min drive to North Beach and 5 min drive to downtown Garden City for groceries/supplies. You can tell it's been renovated and a lot is new. The back deck is shaded in the afternoon so we spent a lot of time sitting out there, enjoying the lake view. There were a few things that surprised us, considering we've stayed at a number of places now. The kitchen was not stocked all that well (limited pots/pans, only salt/pepper, only one backup roll of paper towels, etc.). Also, the listing talks about beach access out the back door. This is technically true. However, it is NOT the type of "sand in your toes" beach you'll get in other areas of the lake. The water level is too high and therefore, the beach is more of an "in the lilies, need sandals to walk out there, and perhaps some bug spray" beach. If the water level is lower, perhaps it's a better beach (I don't knock the listing too much for this because obviously, the water levels are not something that they can control). Make sure you take note of no A/C in the house. We were here in mid-June and felt low 50s in the evening with windows open and fans running would cool the place down - we were mildly successful but that was only with highs in the low 80s. If it's warmer days in July/August, I'd be prepared for some warm nights. I do want to say, the place was super clean, with a lot of great things going for it - including the price. It's really a solid place at a great price but just needs a bit more time to work through some of the kinks of being a new listing. We would stay again because we know that these few things, outside of the A/C, are relatively minor.
