My first snafu was that I couldn’t get the property manager to answer my question about one of the amenities listed, though they were able to contact me just fine later when they thought there was a scheduling issue.
I didn’t realize until I got the check-in information that the property doesn’t have TV or Wi-Fi. When I look back at the property listing now, I see that neither is listed in the amenities so it was on me for not noticing. I guess I’m just giving a heads up for people like me who missed that detail. Cell phone reception was fine, though.
Check-in instructions gave the address and said it was straightforward. We were mistakenly looking for the property instead of the mailbox, so we had a bit of trouble finding it. Again, on me but would’ve been helpful to know beforehand. The driveway starts with a switchback then a pretty steep decline. Fine on the way down, but in our old family minivan, we could not make it back up a couple of times until we learned to gather speed down the hill before it to get steam for this big incline. I wouldn’t have wanted to do it in our vehicle in heavy rain, snow or ice.
So we get there. It’s so pretty, clean, and new. Lovely, quiet, private location. So pretty.
Nice new and clean appliances. Not the best supplies of tools for cooking and no dishwasher, but the sink was nice and all was doable. This may be a personal gripe, but there were no lamps. Lots of lovely overhead lighting, but nothing to light my book at the bedside. Also (probably showing my age), there were remotes on the wall in each room that seemed to be for controlling the ceiling lights/fans plus the cooling/heating unit. I’m sure I’m the idiot, but I couldn’t figure out which button did what, and there weren’t instructions that I saw.
The house itself was quite nice and clean with plenty of room for our family of six. There were just some slightly unpleasant surprises.
