Great spot on the Smith River
House was an excellent retreat for my family. You could not ask for a better view from the back porch of the Smith River. It was centrally located for our short stay. The kitchen was well stocked and allowed to eat in several meals. I would highly recommend this cabin on the Smith.

We chose this location because it was so close to the Redwoods, and as advertised the river and quiet neighborhood made our stay there near perfect. I would recommend this place for anyone who needs a little peace and a slice of nature, with all the comforts of home.

Beyond amazing!
A lovely home in a magical setting! We enjoyed everything about this home and were so grateful that it came well appointed. The beds are so comfy, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need & 2 living room spaces was ideal! We thoroughly enjoyed playing ping pong in the evening after long days playing at the river, ocean and in the redwoods! The location is simply perfect! I can't say enough wonderful things about this home and the hosts are second to none. We look forward to staying there again!

Lovely home in a beautiful location
The property was wonderful. The home is tastefully decorated and provided everything we needed to cook our meals and enjoy our stay. The hosts were kind, accommodating, and responsive. I made an embarrassing mistake by not scheduling our stay correctly and the owners were very kind and understanding when we hadn't vacated when we were supposed to. Our only issue was when a neighbor was cutting down trees across the street early on a few mornings, which disturbed our sleep and was a bit traumatic given our personal history with falling trees --- none of this reflects upon the property and the owners, of course. We'd be happy to recommend the property to anyone.

Absolutely perfect!
It is even better than expected, the pictures don't do it justice. The setting is absolutely stunning! The minute you walk in the door the fabulous view of the river and redwoods greet you.The house is so cute, warm and cozy. Every room is immaculately kept, the kitchen is well appointed with everything you might need for meal prep and service. The various seating areas on the back deck and by the river are well thought out and many. It was an idyllic experience, so serene and beautiful. And quiet....the only sounds are the rushing water of the river and birds song. Exactly what we were hoping for. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful retreat!

Haven of peace & tranquility
My wife & I visit the north coast about 6-10 times a year to fish the beautiful rivers. This trip, a group of us friends all decided to travel up and surprise a local friend for his birthday and we somehow got lucky and found this little gem available. Are we glad we did! Everyone was in awe of the views! We’ve seen this house a few times we’ve been fishing on the Smith and thought what a nice spot with all the windows, patios & decks. We were not disappointed. There was plenty of space for everyone, the house provided all the essentials and was full of amenities. It was raining for most of our trip so the crew enjoyed hanging out on the back porch or playing ping pong in the garage. We loved it so much, it was hard to leave. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you Jack & Sue for opening up your home to share.

Absolutely Love this place. The Smith River is just beautiful out you back door. So quiet. Dead end Rd. The beds were great. Kitchen is loaded. Some furniture needs replaced for seating . The plumbing drain lines need assistance. Over all we Loved it. VRBO. Was absolutely no help to us at all . Had to call for Assistance an had me on hold for over an Hour an 45 mins. Thank goodness the Cleaning Lady showed. Thank you

Beautiful location, beautiful home!
This house and location was absolutely perfect if you’re a nature lover. At the house we were able to enjoy the river views all day. Multiple parks, trails and the ocean were all nearby. The house was well stocked with anything you may need and also had a great guest book with tons of info on things to do. Very comfortable stay. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend staying here.

Fantastic as always!
Have stayed here many times and the house and property are super. Everything you need is there for a relaxing stay. I was there a few weeks later this year and was able to catch some 10-15 lb salmon right off the back yard. Also played a great golf course in Brookings (20 min away) called Salmon Run which cost $38 bucks. Can't beat any of that. Great Place!!! Briggs B.

Amazing Getaway
OM Goodness - you have made this such a little home away from home. We went for a little getaway after recovering from cancer treatments. Just wanted to exhale the crazy and inhale some peace. "The River House" Is just that, a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home, directly on the bank of the Smith River. It's located in a very quiet neighborhood, on a dead end street, so there is very little vehicle traffic. There is plenty of off-street parking available. This is an older home, but well maintained. It has a living room and family room, both with comfortable seating. Both the living room and family room, along with the primary bedroom, have televisions with streaming services. The kitchen is large and is stocked with utensils enabling the ability to prepare most any meal. The beds are very comfortable, having a king size in the primary and a queen in the second bedroom. The main bathroom has a tub/shower combination with good water pressure. The second full bathroom is located near the garage and is smaller, with a stand-up shower. The home could use a little more lighting in the living room and family room, for reading. We loved the full size washer and dryer. The outdoor backyard setting is the attraction here. There are several areas for sitting and enjoying the forest and river view.

Majestic Area
We totally enjoyed our stay. Home is very well equipped with kitchen items including some food and pantry items. As well, there are lots of out door spaces, seating, games, kayaks and fire wood. The views are spectacular, magical and awe inspiring. We hated to leave.

We loved our stay. They have thought of every detail and truly do want you to enjoy your relaxing stay. The fresh cut flowers and place setting on the kitchen table upon arrival generated a large smile and understanding of our stay ahead. Group included 14-55 in age, and perfect for everyone. We will be back.
